PUBG Mobile removed a controversial card that could have hurt the sentiment of millions of muslim players after the version 4.4 update. PUBG Mobile item removed was called ‘Hand of the Almighty’, a card which featured in the new themed mode ‘Hero’s Crown.' Using this card, players were able to create covers to protect themselves from enemies.

The PUBG Mobile Community Statement asserted that the item has been revoked and is no longer available in the game. The official statement also highlighted that the game strives to be respectful to all religions and create a safe gaming space.

PUBG Mobile ‘Hand of God’ Card Faced Community Backlash

PUBG Mobile 4.4 Update went live earlier today. As the update rolled out, one region after the other, a specific ‘Hand of God’ item in the game caught the attention of players in the Arabic community. The concern around the PUBG Mobile Hand of the Almighty item emerged, since there was a possibility that many muslim players would find it disrespectful.

The term ‘Hand of the Almighty’ roughly translates to ‘Al-Jabbar’, one of the 99 names of the Islamic God, Allah. The PUBG Mobile team was quick to respond to the community feedback and immediately removed the card. PUBG Mobile is immensely popular in Islamic countries and the swift action has been well complemented.

This is not the first time a new PUBG Mobile feature sparked backlash from the community. In 2020, the ‘Mysterious Jungle’ mode received backlash from the muslim community. The mode prompted the in-game character to pray to an idol to get extra HP.
