Tencent Games Revives PUBG Mobile LIGHT With Pre-Registration Beginning Next Week

Tencent has officially announced PUBG Mobile LIGHT, a lighter version of PUBG Mobile designed to use less storage and run smoothly on budget devices. Players can download a smaller initial package and add extra content only when needed.

This move will make the game more accessible on devices with limited storage or lower-spec devices. The developers have additionally announced the official PUBG Mobile Light pre registration dates and release timings.

PUBG Mobile LIGHT Pre Registration Begins Next Week

According to Tencent, PUBG Mobile Light Pre Registration will begin on August 25, 2026. The announcement was recently made at the PMWC 2026 Grand Finals. The game was previously available as PUBG Mobile LITE before the developers discontinued it without citing proper reasons.

PUBG Mobile LIGHT is expected to launch later this year, with the exact release date yet to be announced. Players will be able to pre-register through their respective app stores once registration begins. More details are expected before the official launch.

PUBG Mobile LIGHT Download Size & Storage Requirements

A smaller installation size is one of the major advantages of the new game. According to the developers, the initial installation of the game will take:

• Android: 1GB approximately
• iOS: 2GB approximately
• First battle: No additional mandatory package needed

Players won’t need to wait for a large extra download before their first match. Once the initial installation is complete, they can jump straight into the battlefield. They can also manually download additional content and modules as required, meaning unused modes won't take up their storage space. PUBG Mobile LIGHT Keeps You Connected to the Main PUBG Mobile Experience

Although PUBG Mobile Light is much smaller, it will remain connected to the main PUBG Mobile experience. Players can use their existing PUBG Mobile accounts on Light, while owned outfits and other items will also carry over. Yes, your LIGHT account will be linked to your main PUBG Mobile ID.

The Erangel map, supplies, and core combat mechanics will remain similar to the main game. Players can also team up with friends on PUBG Mobile. It should be noted that Tencent also stated that Light would get regular updates along with the main game to maintain a connection between the two games.

PUBG Mobile LIGHT Goes Beyond Smaller File Sizes

As discussed earlier, unlike other games, PUBG Mobile Light will offer a smaller-sized gameplay experience with short-duration matches, occupying less space than the original title.
