Amidst a sea of The Witcher 4 release date speculations, a new type of 2D card game is on its way to hit the market. Following a 11-year-long hiatus, CD Projekt Red is collaborating with Devolver Digital to release a card-based decision-driven game, named Reigns The Witcher, across every platform, including PC and mobile. It's scheduled to be released on February 25, 2026.

Geralt of Rivia, also known as The White Wolf, is finally back, with Dandelion the bard narrating his tales of bravery and often embarrassing adventures. Keeping that in mind, this article will explore everything we know about Reigns: The Witcher so far.

Who is Developing Reigns: The Witcher Game?

CD Projekt Red has collaborated with UK-based developers Nerial to develop Reigns The Witcher game. Much like the original Reigns title, this title has also been published by Devolver Digital.

Reigns: The Witcher Game Details

Those familiar with the popular card game Reign, developed by Devolver Digital, should have a pretty solid idea of how it works. The title is based on the foundation of Reign, a 2D card game. Funnily enough, its mechanics are somewhat similar to current-gen dating apps, where you can swipe left or right to decide Geralt's Fate.

Everyone's favourite Dandelion the bard will narrate the storyline through his song, and your choices will matter depending on your actions towards a certain card. Interestingly, each card represents a particular part of the song. It'll completely depend on whether you choose to seek an adventure to fight against a monster or decline the bounty and just choose peace.

The gameplay might appear super easy at first; however, it's a bit more intricate than that. It follows a unique story where your choices will decide the ending. Moreover, you need to change card slots quickly to survive the heavy monster fights. You also need to balance stats to influence certain battles.

This could be a placeholder title before the release of one of the best open-world PC games, The Witcher 4.

Reigns: The Witcher Platforms Announced

According to official sources, Reigns Witcher will be released across multiple platforms, including Apple Store, Google Play, and Steam. It means it'll cover both mobile and PC platforms. Unfortunately, the title won't be getting a PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X|S release anytime soon. Based on the developers, they would like to focus solely on PC and Mobile platforms, rather than pushing for a console release. Here's a complete list:

Even though there's no official news on the exact price point, based on our speculations, it will cost between $5.99 to $6.50. We'll ensure to update the pricing once we receive the official pricing list from Devolver Digital. Amidst these speculations, there's a catch. Despite there being an official release date of February 25, the App Store page has an expected release date of February 27, 2026.

Does that mean there might be a delay on the PC and Mobile platform release dates? Well, it's only a matter of weeks till we get official confirmation from the publishers.

At the Game Developers Conference, the co-developers of the upcoming Witcher series revealed that they were literally shocked when CD Projekt Red agreed to collaborate and wanted to release this new type of 2D card game genre. And rightly so, the release of Reigns Witcher seems on point with speculations around The Witcher 4's expected arrival date in 2027.

CD Projekt Red already has a roadmap, featuring Witcher 5 and Witcher 6. Regardless, we hope the 2D card game might start a new era for the Witcher series, and gamers might see an unexpected side of Geralt, along with other familiar characters, such as Vasemir, Yennefer, Triss, and others.
