Leon S. Kennedy Confirmed for Resident Evil Requiem

Summary

  • Leon S. Kennedy confirmed for Resident Evil Requiem through a PlayStation Store leak showing new cover art.
  • The leak supports earlier reports about Leon being a second playable protagonist alongside Grace Ashcroft.
  • Requiem may mark Leon’s final chapter, with an official reveal expected at The Game Awards 2025.

After months of speculation, we can say it’s finally official that Leon S. Kennedy is confirmed for Resident Evil Requiem. Just to make it clear, the confirmation didn’t come from Capcom’s marketing team but rather from an unexpected leak on the PlayStation Store earlier today.

Leon S. Kennedy Confirmed for Resident Evil Requiem: A Long-Awaited Unexpected Reveal

Players noticed new cover art of the game showing Leon standing alongside Grace Ashcroft, ending one of this year’s biggest mysteries in the Resident Evil community.
The image, which has now spread across social platforms, shows Leon in his signature style, such as recognizable hair, rugged stubble, and that classic leather jacket. Yet he appears much older and more weathered than his Resident Evil 4 counterpart, hinting that Requiem will explore a more mature chapter of his story.

For almost a year now, many people in the industry have been predicting that this type of leak would occur. As far back as early 2025, various people in the industry were making claims that Capcom's next game, nicknamed RE9, would contain Leon, who would also be working alongside Grace Ashcroft.

Many fans dismissed these types of claims as wishful thinking due to the fact that every trailer or promotional image from Capcom did not seem to show him at all. However, based on this new information, it appears that the things predicted/composed at that time must be accurate.

Leon’s Return Could Mark His Final Chapter in Series

Previous reports indicated that Resident Evil: Requiem will separate its plot between Grace Ashcroft and Leon, who will therefore be able to investigate episodes occurring in different periods connected to Raccoon City.

The Leon portion of the storyline is said to return to some pivotal points in series history, creating a connected history between old and new.

In addition, Dusk Golem indicated that Requiem might be the final appearance of Leon and that it will complete the trilogy that began with Resident Evil 2, proceeded to Resident Evil 4, and is now closing in on Requiem. If true, this would provide a fitting goodbye to one of gaming's greatest icons.

Capcom has not yet provided any sort of official statement, although it is anticipated that the character will be formally revealed at The Game Awards 2025 on December 11. With the release of Resident Evil Requiem on February 27, 2026, fans will not have long to wait before they can see their favorite agent take action.
