Slay the Spire II Begins Early Access Next Month, Featuring a 4-Player Co-Op Mode

Mega Crit has finally spilled the beans on its upcoming deck-building roguelike title. From the recent trailer, Slay the Spire 2 Early Access will begin next month, i.e., March 5, 2026, on Steam (for PC platform). The developers have promised to make this iteration's story a bit more mysterious, with playable characters returning to the battlefield and bringing back nostalgia.

Slay the Spire 2 Set In a World 1000 Years After Its Previous Iteration

The developers at Mega Crit released a bit of the story about what people can expect in Slay the Spire. If we remember it correctly, discovering and defeating the Heart of the Spire itself was a big thing in its previous iteration. Coming to the newer deck-building version, the Spire has once again reopened. Meanwhile, players will witness three returning characters, among whom we only know about Ironclad and the Silent.

Two new playable characters, the Regent and the Necrobinder, have also made their way into the mysterious lore. These new characters will have their own backstory and unique skills. Merchant, on the other hand, is likely to provide deep insight into the new lore, especially what happened during the last 1000 years. As discussed earlier, Mega Crit has recently released an early access trailer, confirming the launch of Slay the Spire 2 Early Access on Steam from March 5, 2026. The developers have also emphasised fully focusing on receiving community feedback and fixing any bugs identified during the Slay the Spire 2 early access.
