Valorant Characters: All Agents & Their Roles (2025 Updated List)

Valorant continues to grow and develop as one of the most unique tactical shooter experiences in esports, and a huge factor in the game's success has been its cast of Valorant characters (Agents). Agents have their own abilities and assigned roles that don't just limit them to shooting their guns; they shape strategies and guide how matches are played. In 2025, there will be more options than before in terms of character selection to suit any player's playstyle.

As of Season 2025 Act 4, the game has 27 playable Valorant characters, separated and balanced into four categories: Duelist, Initiator, Controller, and Sentinel. In all compositions of a Valorant team, every team can find synergy dripping within either an entry onslaught of aggressive duelists, supportive vision controllers, or defenders holding critical sites, specialising in containment. Players in today's metagame now have to understand who each character is in Valorant and what their strengths can bring to bear when they are forced to adapt and compete. Duelists

Duelists in Valorant are designed for potent aggression; they shine in direct fights and generate space for teammates. Duelist abilities are designed with speed, damage, and self-sufficiency to get important opening kills and push into contested territory. In short, duelists are the backbone of a team's offensive potential, making them important among all Valorant characters.

Jett

The wind-wielding dynamo is a fan favourite. Jett’s dash and updrafts make her incredibly mobile, while her Bladestorm ultimate unleashes deadly throwing knives. She’s perfect for high-risk, high-reward plays and thrives in confident hands.

Phoenix

Your fiery playmaker is built for self-sufficiency. Phoenix uses fire abilities that both damage enemies and heal himself, giving him sustain in duels. His Run It Back ultimate lets him take risks freely, returning to life after elimination.

Reyna

The definition of solo carry potential. With Dismiss for invulnerability and Devour for healing, she thrives when scoring kills. Her Empress ultimate amplifies combat abilities, making Reyna a nightmare for opponents in clutch or chaotic situations.

Raze

Explosive chaos in human form. Raze uses grenades, Boom Bot, and paint shells to clear corners and pressure defenders. Her Showstopper rocket launcher ultimate wipes groups instantly, making her the go-to Duelist for fans of aggression and noise.

Yoru

Valorant’s ultimate trickster. Yoru’s toolkit includes teleports, fake clones, and flashes that disorient opponents. His Dimensional Drift lets him go invisible and reposition. Ideal for players who love deception and creating confusion on both attack and defence.

Iso

A stylish Duelist with a flair for drama. Iso’s kit amplifies his damage output, but his ultimate isolates one opponent into a 1v1 arena where the winner survives. He’s risky but incredibly flashy in execution.

Initiators

Initiators are key to facilitating successful attacks in Valorant. The initiators' toolkits are designed to expedite information gathering, disrupt defensive situations, and allow teammates to push. Whether through recon, flashes, or crowd-control ability (Lobster), initiators will offer up the opposing team an unsettled and vulnerable state of mind, which is why they are the lynch pins for a coordinated site attack and one of the more important Valorant characters.

Sova

The recon legend and a staple pick since launch. Sova’s Recon Arrows reveal enemy positions, his Owl Drone scouts safely, and his Hunter’s Fury ultimate pierces through walls, making him invaluable for gathering intel and flushing out defenders.

Skye

Nature’s tactician who blends support and initiation. Skye summons seekers and scouting animals for vision, while her healing ability sustains allies mid-fight. Her flashes also help crack defences, making her a versatile Agent who balances aggression and support.

Breach

Big, bold, and built for impact. Breach specialises in crowd control, using flashes and fault lines to disrupt opponents. His Rolling Thunder ultimate clears sites with powerful seismic waves, devastating defenders, especially in chokepoints and close-quarter maps.

KAY/O

The anti-ability machine that shuts down utility-dependent teams. KAY/O’s suppression blade disables enemy abilities, while his flashes open sites. His Null/CMD ultimate boosts his firepower and suppresses opponents, making him excellent at countering utility-heavy setups.

Fade

The hunter from the shadows. Fade uses prowlers and seize tethers to locate and immobilise enemies, while her Haunt orb reveals positions. Her ultimate inflicts terror, deafening and weakening opponents, making them easy prey for her team.

Gekko

A utility-packed Initiator with a unique kit. His Wingman can plant or defuse the spike, while Dizzy blinds enemies. With Moshpit for area denial and a powerful ultimate, Gekko provides versatility in both attack and defence.

Tejo

Valorant’s newest Agent was released in January 2025. Tejo specialises in clearing corners, isolating picks, and disrupting defences, though his kit lacks strong flashes. He thrives when used creatively, breaking stalemates and opening paths for his team.

Controllers

In the world of Valorant, Controllers are map control champions. By using area-denial abilities, walls, and smoke, they control the nature of combat. Their main job is to deny information, block rotations, and create safe pathways for their team. Controllers can shape the battlefield, help coordinate efforts against other teams, and give attackers and defenders a tactical advantage.

Brimstone

Old reliable and the simplest Controllers in Valorant. His smokes last a long time and cut off sightlines, incendiary grenades deny entry, and his devastating Orbital Strike ultimate locks down areas, making attackers safe and team push perfectly in sync.

Omen

Omen is the nightmare every player fears. He is a mysterious character with mystery and mind games against the enemy. Omen loves to be unpredictable. Omen can blind whole pushes with Paranoia, and has dark smokes to cut off vision and stall plays. When you combine this with his ability to teleport, enemies are uncertain of angles, never knowing where Omen can show up next.

Viper

A toxic tactician who controls entire sites with ease. Her poison walls and toxic clouds cut off angles, while her Viper’s Pit ultimate blankets areas in gas, obscuring vision and punishing enemies who linger too long.

Astra

One of the more powerful Valorant agents, Astra, is a true mastermind with cosmic power. Astra places stars around the map, converting them into smokes, pulls, or stuns. Her Cosmic Divide ultimately slices the map in two, blocking bullets and sound, reshaping strategies instantly.

Harbor

Water’s emissary, Harbour, brings unique tools for space control. His cascade walls and shielding sphere provide cover, while high tide cuts off vision. His ultimate creates a concussive water dome, disrupting enemies and enabling site executions.

Clove

A bold hybrid Controller with disruptive flair. Clove’s smokes persist even after death, allowing teammates to benefit from her utility post-mortem. Her ultimate self-revives, offering a second chance to impact rounds and surprise opponents.

Sentinels

Sentinels focus on defence and protecting as they are the most capable in locking down places and protecting teammates. Their whole identity is that of traps, surveillance, and healing, which provides, among other things, anchoring sites and stopping enemies. With great utility to slow pushes or support teammates, Sentinels provide stability and security to any team composition. Thus, they are considered important Valorant characters.

Sage

The ever-reliable healer and one of Valorant’s most trusted picks. Her Slow Orb stalls enemy advances, her Barrier Wall blocks critical paths, and her Resurrection ultimate revives teammates, often swinging the momentum of an entire round.

Cypher

The information broker who thrives on control. His tripwires punish careless pushes, his spycam gathers constant intel, and his Neural Theft ultimate reveals enemy positions, ensuring his team always plays with awareness and map security.

Killjoy

A defensive tech fortress built for anchoring sites. Killjoy’s Turret and Alarmbot provide warnings, while her Nanoswarm grenades punish overextensions. Her Lockdown ultimate clears areas with ease, making her a favourite for structured and tactical players.

Chamber

One of the more important Valorant agents, poise and precision define Chamber’s playstyle. He uses traps to cover flanks, teleports for quick repositioning, and equips deadly custom weapons. High-skill, high-reward, Chamber excels when sharp aim is combined with clever defensive setups.

Deadlock

Deadlock brings disruption and stalls power to the Sentinel role. With barriers, traps, and sensors, she slows attackers’ progress. Her immobilising ultimate can secure critical picks, making her valuable for holding tight angles and denying entry.

Vyse

An S-tier Sentinel in Valorant’s 2025 meta. Vyse’s trap wall controls key zones, while her ultimate disables enemy weapons. Her strong utility makes her both a defensive anchor and a disruptive force in competitive play.
