Arun Jaitley Stadium was formerly called the Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium. It was named after the Kotla Fort. The venus is owned and operated by the Delhi & District Cricket Association (DDCA) and located on Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg, New Delhi. It was established in 1883. The first Test match at this stadium took place on November 10, 1948, when India faced the West Indies.

During a 2017 felicitation event, the DDCA named four stadium stands after former India captain Bishan Singh Bedi, former India all-rounder Mohinder Amarnath, and former India and Delhi opener Gautam Gambhir. The locker rooms for the home team and away team were named after Raman Lamba and Prakash Bhandari, respectively. The stadium was renamed on September 12, 2019, in commemoration of former DDCA President and Finance Minister Arun Jaitley.

He died on August 24, 2019. The stadium was officially renamed at a ceremony held on September 12, 2019. On the same occasion, one of the stadium's stands was named after former Indian captain Virat Kohli.
