RCB Team

The reigning champions, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, may have walked away with a crucial win over Mumbai Indians in IPL 2026, but the franchise has now landed in unwanted controversy following the high-intensity clash in Raipur on Sunday, May 10. While the victory boosted RCB’s momentum in the race for the playoffs, an incident from the dugout has shifted attention away from the on-field heroics.

Former Zimbabwe cricketer and RCB head coach Andy Flower has come under the scanner after an animated exchange during the run chase sparked disciplinary action from the IPL authorities. The incident, which unfolded during a tense moment involving one of the best all-rounders in IPL, Krunal Pandya and a disputed boundary call, has now resulted in Flower facing a financial penalty, adding fresh drama to RCB’s campaign.

Disciplinary Action Against Andy Flower

Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) head coach Andy Flower fine 15% of his match fee following a breach of the IPL Code of Conduct during the game against Mumbai Indians on May 10. Flower was found to have violated Article 2.3, which pertains to the "use of an audible obscenity during a match."

The Krunal Pandya boundary controversy incident was triggered during the 17.2 overs of RCB’s chase when Flower engaged in an animated and aggressive confrontation with the fourth umpire. Flower admitted to the offence and accepted the sanction handed down by match referee Amit Sharma. As this was classified as a Level 1 breach, the decision remains final and binding under league regulations.
