Blessing Muzarabani, youngster from Zimbabwe, has made his IPL debut for the Kolkata Knight Riders in the MI vs KKR match. He becomes the 4th Zimbabwe player to play an IPL match, where he is also the second Zimbabwe player representing KKR, making fans curious to know who is the first one.

Tatenda Taibu, wicket-keeper batter from Zimbabwe, was the 1st Zimbabwe Player in IPL For KKR ahead of Blessing Muzarabani KKR appearance in 2026. Tatenda Taibu was part of the three-times champions, KKR in the first ever edition of the IPL in 2008. He was signed for ₹50 lakh and played three matches, scoring 31 runs with a strike rate of 119.23.

He played matches against some of the best teams in IPL including the Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Delhi Capitals. According to the ESPN Cricinfo, he left his national team to travel to India for the IPL. He brought very minimal experience in the shortest format of the game, yet played three games. However, Blessing Muzarabani IPL 2025 campaign with RCB made Blessing to become the first Zimbabwe player to win the IPL as he was part of the RCB in IPL 2025 as a replacement.

The journey of Blessing Muzarabani in the IPL has not been an easy one. In IPL 2025, he was picked as a replacement bowler for the RCB at the last stage of the league and didn't get a single chance to play a match but was part of the winning group. However, coming into the IPL 2026, he went unsold in the auction but was roped in as a replacement for the Bangladesh pacer, Mustafizur Rahman.

In the KKR's first match of the IPL 2026, he was presented his maiden IPL cap by the Kolkata Knight Riders making him the 4th Zimbabwe player to feature in the IPL. He has been rewarded for his exceptional performances in the ICC T20 World Cup 2026, where the franchise has showed trust in him to do the same in the IPL.
