Hardik Pandya CSK trade quickly became one of the biggest talking points in the IPL arena. If completed, the transfer would see one of Mumbai's biggest stars join their fiercest rivals. The speculation intensified after Mumbai had a disappointing IPL 2026 campaign.

Soon after, a viral video of Hardik Pandya speaking with CSK chief executive Kasi Viswanathan following a match at Chepauk started fresh rumours among fans. As the claims continued to spread, there is no credible source to verify if this trade to the Chennai Super Kings was his personal decision or whether other management factors were also involved.

CSK were strongly linked with Hardik for a potential trade, but discussions between the two franchises failed to reach an agreement. The biggest hurdle was Mumbai Indians' demand for both Shivam Dube and Ayush Mhatre as part of the swap, and as per reports, one of the best teams in IPL, the Chennai Super Kings, were unwilling to accept, especially because they had no intention of parting ways with Mhatre.

The negotiations later moved to a revised proposal featuring Shivam Dube and Dewald Brevis instead. However, Mumbai further increased their demands by asking for an additional ₹10 crore along with the two players. Chennai refused to match that, and with neither side willing to compromise, the proposed trade was eventually called off.

CSK chief executive Kasi Viswanathan also dismissed the rumours linking Hardik Pandya with the franchise. Viswanathan clarified that Chennai Super Kings have not yet reviewed their IPL 2026 season and will only begin planning after the MLC concludes. He also denied holding any talks regarding Hardik, stating that the reports connecting the Mumbai Indians captain with CSK are completely false.
