IPL Mourns as 37-Year-Old PBKS Player Passes Away

The Indian Premier League (IPL) is always known for bringing entertainment and joy among the cricket fans and players across the country, but however, the IPL 2026 edition, has seen a number mishaps among the personal lives of players or cricket fraternity. Another disheartening news comes in from the state of Punjab, where former PBKS and 37-year old, Amanpreet Singh Gill passes away on May 6, 2026, leaving his legacy behind.

What Led to Amanpreet Singh Gill Death?

The news of passing away of Amanpreet Singh Gill Former PBKS Player sufaced online when the Punjab Cricket Association (PCA) posted a tweet on X, informing sad demise of Amanpreet Singh Gill. The Post claims, “Punjab Cricket Association deeply mourns the sad demise of Amanpreet Singh Gill, former Punjab cricketer and Member, Senior Selection Committee Punjab. He served Punjab cricket with dedication and passion, representing teams including India Under-19s, Kings XI Punjab and Punjab. Our heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and loved ones. May Waheguru grant eternal peace to the departed soul and strength to the family in this difficult time.”

The reason behind the Amanpreet Singh Gill Death is still unknown as it was not mentioned anywhere in the post by the PCA. However, they also mentioned that cremation would be taking place on May 6, 2026, at 4:00 PM at Manimajra Cremation Ground Chandigarh.

Amanpreet Singh Gill Cricket Career

Late Amanpreet Singh Gill was born on September 16, 1989 and was a right arm medium fast bowler who could also bat right-handed. The cricketer has represented the Punjab Domestic Cricket Team as well as India U19 team. He was a very skilled right arm pacer who has shared dressing room with Virat Kohli, Saurabh Tiwary, and even Ravindra Jadeja. Amanpreet Singh has only featured in 6 first class games apart from YTests and YODIs.

However, he was still able to get hands on the IPL contract with the Kings XI Punjab (Now Punjab Kings) in 2009 and was part of the team till 2010 season, where he shared dressing room with great players like Yuvraj Singh, Mahela Jayawardene, Brett Lee, and many more. But, the right arm pacer didn't get a single match to feature in the biggest cricket league in the world.
