Is Jasprit Bumrah Out of IPL 2026? Star Bowler Yet to Join MI Camp

2 min
Jasprit Bumrah

The Indian Premier League (IPL) is just days away as the first match of the 19th edition is set to be played between the defending champions, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on March 28 at the iconic M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.

However, most of the eyes will be on the second match when the five-time champions Mumbai Indians will meet Kolkata Knight Riders on March 29. In a recent development, there is some update on MI's premier fast bowler, Jasprit Bumrah, who is yet to join the camp.

Is Jasprit Bumrah Out of IPL 2026?

According to the TOI, Bumrah recently visited the BCCI Centre of Excellence, but it is not clear whether the visit was regarding any injury or it was for just routine checks. If there are any injury concerns, then it is unlikely that the star pacer will take part in the richest cricket league in the world, considering the upcoming fixtures of the Indian cricket team and the 2027 ODI World Cup as well.

Jasprit Bumrah IPL 2026 campaign will be very crucial for the five-time champions, who haven't seen another good campaign after the 2020 season, where they lifted their fifth IPL title. They will be hoping for their fast bowler to join the camp soon.

Jasprit Bumrah Mumbai Indians Numbers

MI pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah is arguably one of the best bowlers in IPL. He has been representing the franchise since 2013. Over the years, he has featured in 145 matches in IPL and has taken 183 wickets at an impressive average of 22.02. The right-arm pacer has also been pretty economical throughout his IPL career with an amazing economy rate of just 7.25.

It shows that there are still some bowlers who have the ability to dominate the game of cricket in a format which is mostly dominated by the batters. The Hardik Pandya-led side would not want to lose the services of their star bowler and hope that he joins the camp as soon as possible, especially ahead of the upcoming match on March 29 at their home ground, the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
