Mayank Yadav has confirmed that he will be available for IPL 2026, giving his franchise a major boost ahead of the new season. The exciting young pacer has spent a long time on the sidelines after injuring himself during the previous campaign. In August last year, Mayank Yadav went to Christchurch for back surgery and has been undergoing rehab at the Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru ever since.

Mayank had shown his potential but managed to play only two games in IPL 2025 before suffering another injury, forcing him to miss the rest of the season. After months of rehab, he now feels confident about his fitness and is eager to make a strong return.

Mayank Yadav's comeback is widely anticipated, as his pace has already made him one of the most talked-about young bowlers in the league. When Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) secured his retention for INR 11 crore, Mayank confirmed that he will be ready to play from the very start of the IPL 2026 season.

Mayank is likely to be fully fit by the time the second phase of the 2025–26 Ranji Trophy begins in late January. The Delhi pacer has made it clear that his main aim now is to get back on the field consistently, especially after missing almost two years of competitive cricket.

Mayank Yadav and Mohammad Shami to Partner Up for LSG

Mayank Yadav LSG bowler, has a long list of injuries, and because of that, he has spent the past two years at the CoE, where he’s crossed paths with some of the best bowlers in the world, including Mohammed Shami and Jasprit Bumrah. Shami himself required over a year to return from a knee injury, while Bumrah dealt with a back issue similar to what Mayank has faced.

Mayank often spoke with Mohammed Shami during rehab, and neither of them knew at the time that they would eventually end up sharing the same dressing room at LSG, especially after Shami’s unexpected trade from Sunrisers Hyderabad.

Mayank, who is among the fastest bowlers in India, had to fly to New Zealand for his back operation, undergoing the procedure with Dr Rowan Schouten, the same specialist who handled Jasprit Bumrah’s surgery. That made Bumrah’s presence at the CoE earlier this year valuable for Mayank, as the senior bowler frequently shared insight on how to handle recovery and manage his body better.
