No Riyan Parag Against LSG at Jaipur, RR Appoint New Captain

Ahead of the crucial IPL clash against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL), Rajasthan Royals (RR) have suffered a major blow in their lineup. Riyan Parag, the captain of Rajasthan-based franchise misses out the essential game in order to qualify for the playoffs.

As per reports, Riyan Parag has been left out of the playing XI of RR against LSG due to an injury. His absence in this game will hamper the chances of the home team in order to win and make them a contender for the playoffs. RR needs 2 out of 2 wins for qualifying for the 2026 IPL Playoffs and give themselves a chance to win the league.

Why Riyan Parag Is Not Playing Today?

During the previous game of Rajasthan Royals (RR) against Delhi Capitals (DC) in IPL, RR captain Riyan Parag suffered a left hamstring discomfort while batting in the first innings. Yashasvi Jaiswal, the opening batter of Rajasthan Royals is the new RR captain against Lucknow Super Giants. Lhuan-dre Pretorius, the young batter from South Africa has been added to the lineup replacing the Indian all-rounder.

In the ongoing season, Riyan Parag has been a part of 11 matches, scoring a total 258 runs, with 90 being his highest score. He has also taken 2 wickets for the team. The missing of in-form player Parag is a disadvantage for the Royals as he is amongst the best batsmen in IPL. But, it will give a chance to the other players of the team to give their best.

Riyan Parag's Recent Update

Ahead of RR vs LSG IPL 2026 match, Riyan Parag also missed the match against Gujarat Titans due to his hamstring issues. He was a part of RR's last game against DC, which might have aggravated the injury. The all-rounder would be required to recover fast as the league is already in its closing stage, and RR look forward to finish in the top four in the IPL points table.

Apart from the IPL, Riyan Parag has also been named as the vice-captain of India A for the tri-series against Sri Lanka and Afghanistan, starting June 9, 2026. He is one of the experienced players in the side and will be important for the Indian lineup. The injury faced by Parag is not serious and he is likely to play the tri-series, to be played in Dambulla, Sri Lanka.
