Revealed: Was Finn Allen Out or Not Out?

The ongoing season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 has already produced multiple thrilling matches so far, but there are a lot of umpiring decisions that have come under scrutiny. The 15th match of the league between the Kolkata Knight Riders and Lucknow Super Giants also produced a questionable umpiring decision that has created controversy.

KKR opener Finn Allen's catch, which Digvesh Rathi took at the boundary rope, and the third umpire immediately made the decision and gave it in favour of the bowling team. However, fans on social media are now criticising the umpire for the decision and are unsure if Finn Allen out today or not-out.

As mentioned above, the umpire took very little time to make the decision, but after the dismissal, the replays were shown in which it could be seen that Rathi's foot was very close to the boundary rope, raising eyebrows about the call. Even the commentators, Faf du Plessis and Harsha Bhogle, who were on the mic at that time, also claimed that the umpire should've taken more time before making the decision.

It cannot be said that Digvesh Rathi catch was clean or not, but the umpire should definitely be more cautious with such decisions going ahead to maintain the standards of the richest cricket league in the world.

KKR Put up a Fighting Total Despite Finn Allen's Early Dismissal

Despite Finn Allen's dismissal in the second over of the first innings, skipper Ajinkya Rahane and Angkrish Raghuvanshi carried the momentum and scored 56 runs in the powerplay. However, both Rahane and Raghuvanshi were dismissed in the 11th and 12th over, respectively, which reduced the scoring rate of the three-time champions.

Cameron Green and Rovman Powell stitched an unbeaten 70-run partnership and helped the team to put up 181 runs on the scoreboard, which could've easily crossed the 200-run mark at one point. Digvesh Rathi was the standout bowler for LSG, who picked up a wicket and conceded only 25 runs in his four overs. The total put by Kolkata Knight Riders was crucial for the team to putting up a good fight against LSG, so that team can take 2 points into it's bank after defending the total and winning the match.
