The RR new owner is backed by Rob Walton, American businessman, of the Walmart family and the Hamp family, who own the majority of the Detroit Lions in the NFL, along with Sheila Ford Hamp, a descended from the Ford family, which owns a substantial portion of Ford Motor Company. According to reports, the ownership of the franchise will effective after IPL 2026 is concluded.

The new ownership led by Kal Somani and group involves some of the big players of the business industry, where Kal Somani was also previously involved with the RR since 2021. Somani entered the world of IPL becoming a minority investor of Rajasthan Royals in 2021 where his share was not disclosed. He saw a huge potential in investing in IPL considering the future growth of the league which can be seen at present.

The new owners of Rajasthan Royals have been involved in the sports ecosystem where Kal Somani is the co-owner of the Motor City Golf Club and made early-stage investment in ventures such as TMRW Sports and the TGL Golf League. Along with him, Rob Walton owns the majority of the Detroit Lions in the NFL bringing more experience into the franchise.
