Ravindra Jadeja Back to RR? New Details Emerge on Sanju Samson Trade

The trade window ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) mini-auction is already making a buzz among the fans. The franchises have connected with each other to swap players as per their requirements. They are exploring some bold choices, making the trade interesting.

As per the recent rumors, even Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and the Rajasthan Royals (RR) are engaged in a trade, and the choices of the players have caught everyone's attention. RR have reportedly asked for marquee CSK players in their trade of Sanju Samson for the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League. After Samson informed the franchise regarding his decision to part ways, the Rajasthan Royals have written to multiple franchises about trading the player.

Sanju Samson Trade Twist: RR Ask CSK for Jadeja, Ruturaj or Dube

Rajasthan Royals (RR)'s wicket-keeper batter Sanju Samson had requested the franchise to enter the trade window ahead of the IPL 2026. Hence, reports suggest that the Royals have approached CSK to trade Samson for the next season but in return, have asked for one of the marquee players out of Ruturaj Gaikwad, Shivam Dube, and Ravindra Jadeja.

As per Cricbuzz, the RR franchise wants to bring back Jadeja and hence, they have put an offer in front of the Super Kings. While the mini-auction is later this year, the trade window is something to watch out for the fans. All these players - Jadeja, Gaikwad, and Dube - form the core of CSK, and it is highly unlikely for all of them to be traded. Ravindra Jadeja Rajasthan Royals relation is quite old since this is the all-rounder's first team in IPL. It was his first step towards becoming one of the best all-rounders in cricket.

Interestingly, CSK have denied the offer as they don't want to release any of their players. Hence, if they want Samson, they'll have to look for other options during the trade window or buy him during the IPL mini auction. It almost puts an end to Ravindra Jadeja RR comeback.

How was Rajasthan Royals' IPL 2025 season?

Even after having a brilliant side in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, Rajasthan Royals finished in the second last position with just four wins in 14 matches. They started their IPL campaign with two losses against SRH and KKR, but then went on to win the matches against CSK and PBKS. Despite having players like Yashasvi Jaiswal, Riyan Parag, Sanju Samson, Shimron Hetmyer, Wanindu Hasaranga, and many more, RR failed to even qualify for the playoffs.

While Samson was injured in the middle of the IPL, Parag took over the captaincy. He batted well in a few matches, but couldn't save the team from losing the matches. RR also had the 14-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi towards the end of the tournament when he scored a century and became the youngest player in the IPL to do so. If we look into RR's team, there were matches when the bowlers did well, and vice versa. They failed to find the right balance among the players in the team which led to their downfall last season.

Sanju Samson is a veteran batter when it comes to RR. He has been with the franchise since 2013. He played for DC in 2016-17 when the team was banned from the IPL, but returned to the franchise in 2018. From being a regular player to becoming their captain, he has been one of the best players in IPL.

However, there was a controversy that happened last year. Even after Samson returned to the squad after recovery, he wasn't given the captaincy. Parag led the team for a few matches, which might have frustrated the player. Despite his differences with the franchise, RR have been in talks with almost every other team to trade Samson. It will be interesting to see which team has put Samson under their radar ahead of the mini auction 2025.
