The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced a new set of rules and regulations to maintain the integrity of the Indian Premier League, which is currently taking place across the country. The rules included strict protocols for the players and their girlfriends and the use of illegal devices, especially inside the ground.

Now just the players, the board has now cracked down on one of the IPL commentators for breaching the Code of Conduct. According to the BCCI commentator guidelines, filming the match is stricly prohibited from someone associated with the board or the IPL.

According to TOI, a former international cricketer, who is also a commentator in IPL 2026, was seen filming match videos on his phone near the players dugout at a time when the match hanged at a balance. As a result, the BCCI team asked him to stop his recording. If found to be breaching the rules, there could be a legal case on the former cricketer as well.

“There have been a few breaches by a few commentators. One former international cricketer was found making videos on his phone near the dugout in a tense situation of a match. The team acted swiftly and got him to stop the recording. There could be a case of sending legal notices to an ex-cricketer who was found filming for his YouTube channel. The board has clearly mentioned that anybody wearing BCCI and IPL official attire can’t be seen filming at the ground.”

Which Commentator Broke BCCI Rules During IPL?

Now, the question arises which commentator broke the BCCI rules during IPL 2026. As of now, no such name has been revealed by the BCCI or the IPL. However, it could be a renowned name with a good following on social media.

Among all the commentators in IPL 2026, former India opener Aakash Chopra has a huge fan following and constantly posts videos on his YouTube channel. He is currently in the Hindi commentary panel of the IPL.

Apart from Chopra, former India off-spinner Harbhajan Singh also has a YouTube channel with a good fan following. Just like Aakash, he is also in the Hindi commentary panel.

Former India batter Mohammad Kaif is also one of the names who might be the culprit here as he also has a YouTube channel. While it is not yet clear which commentator broke BCCI rules, these might be the names. However, these are just speculations.
