Revealed! Why is Yash Dayal Not Playing IPL 2026?

The Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) have made a massive confirmation ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL). As per the reports in Cricbuzz, it is learned that the franchise has released fast bowler Yash Dayal from their squad for the tournament.

Dayal has been a key part of RCB, the richest team in IPL, for several years now. The left-arm seamer played a big part in RCB's title win last year when they became the IPL champions for the first-time. Yash Dayal IPL 2026 absence will affect RCB's bowling combination as they will have to go for a new one.

Why is Yash Dayal Not Playing IPL 2026?

The move has been made in the wake of Yash Dayal’s legal cases. The fast bowler, who has been one of the best bowlers in IPL, has been out of the cricketing action since the last edition of the league due to the court case. As a result, RCB has taken a harsh step this year.

There are accusations on Yash Dayal on sexually harassing a minor. A similar kind of case has been registered against him by another women, who claimed that the pacer has physically abused her on the pretext of marriage. The court recently granted him bail, but still allegations are against him even though, he has denied all.

Yash Dayal’s name has been in the news for quite sometime now. As soon as the buzz for the IPL started and RCB began their preparations for the league, Dayal has not been spotted with team during their training session.

Earlier, Dayal’s poster was snubbed by the Royal Challengers Bengaluru on team bus. It sent an indication that the team is not willing to keep him in the squad. It was only a matter of time when the franchise made the confirmation and released him.

Speaking in a press conference, RCB’s Director of Cricket Mo Bobat said that the fast bowler is going through personal issues and he will not play IPL 2026.

"Yash Dayal will not be a part of RCB this season. He's going through a personal situation. He remains under contract. It was decided in his best interest," Bobat said in a press conference ahead of the tournament.

Will RCB Announce Yash Dayal Replacement?

The Yash Dayal controversy has forced him out of the upcoming Indian Premier League season. But, there are chances that RCB might soon announce a replacement. They would be looking at some of the young pacers who shone in domestic cricket as well as the U19 level.

Coming to the IPL 2026, RCB will play the tournament opener against Sunrisers Hyderabad on March 28. The match will be played at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, which will mark the return of cricket to the venue after a deadly stampede.
