Will Avesh Khan Be Fined for His Actions During SRH vs LSG Match?

Lucknow Super Giants’ win over Sunrisers Hyderabad on April 5 saw a controversial moment involving the fast bowler, Avesh Khan. The incident happened during the final stages of the match when Rishabh Pant hit the winning shot that was clearly heading towards the boundary

Avesh, who was in the Lucknow Super Giants dugout at the time, used a bat from outside the field and sent the ball back to the field in an attempt to celebrate the win. The incident has now raised questions about the legality of outside interference and whether any action will be taken against the Indian quick.

Will Avesh Khan Be Fined For His Actions?

According to the MCC Laws of Cricket, only players who are on the field are allowed to interact with the ball inside the boundary ropes. Any external interference, whether its from support staff or players in the dugout is strictly not permitted. This comes under Law 41 (unfair play) and can be punishable sometimes.

However, in Avesh Khan fine case, he was in the same team as of Rishabh Pant, who smashed the winning shot. Adding to it, Avesh didn’t damage any property with that hit, so there are very less chances of him getting punished by the BCCI.

This is not the first time when Avesh Khan has been involved in such kind of an incident. During IPL 2023, he threw his helmet on the ground while celebrating LSG's thrilling win over Royal Challengers Bengaluru.

Avesh Khan Shines at the Death

LSG's star bowler Avesh Khan, one of the best bowlers in India, missed the first game against Delhi Capitals (DC) in the ongoing IPL 2026. The franchise brought in Shahbaz Ahmed as an impact sub during the bowling but that didn't prove beneficial for them as they lost the game by five wickets.

However, the pacer got a chance in the second match today against SRH and picked up 2-36 in four overs. Despite being expensive, he did his job well as he dismissed Heinrich Klaasen, one of the most dangerous batsmen in IPL and the highest scorer for Sunrisers in the SRH vs LSG IPL 2026 game.

He went for a few runs when Nitish Kumar Reddy and Klaasen were going all guns blazing during their partnership. However, he came back well during the slog overs, using the yorkers and variations quite well. With bowlers like Mohsin Khan and Mayank Yadav, Avesh will be needed to perform consistently to keep his place in the team.
