Jammu and Kashmir fast bowler Auqib Nabi has been breathing fire with the ball in the ongoing Ranji Trophy 2025-26. The fast bowler is one of the major reasons behind J&K’s dominance in the ongoing tournament.

Right-arm quick Auqib Nabi has been giving his best in red-ball cricket in the last few years and has come under the notice of the national selectors as well. Having the ability to swing the ball both ways, he has picked a plethora of wickets and he has established his credentials as one of the best bowlers in India at the moment.

In the ongoing Ranji Trophy 2025-26, Nabi has looked class apart. Currently, he is the third-highest wicket-taker in the tournament, which speaks a lot about his performance with the ball in the ongoing tournament, where his team Jammu and Kashmir are at the top of the points table in Elite Group D.

Auqib Nabi has taken 24 wickets in the four games that he has played so far in the Ranji Trophy 2025-26. The pacer has an average of just over 13 and has also bagged three five-wicket hauls, which is the joint-most so far in the ongoing edition of the tournament.

Auqib Nabi Helps Jammu and Kashmir Defeat Delhi

Auqib Nabi’s best came in Jammu and Kashmir’s most recent match against Delhi in the Ranji Trophy. Opting to field, J&K had a great outing with the ball, thanks to Nabi, who oozed his class again with the ball.

Nabi picked up a fifer as J&K bundled out Delhi for just 211 runs. This 211-run total was only possible because of fifties by captain Ayush Badoni (64), Ayush Doseja (65) and Sumit Mathur (55*). In response, J&K piled up 310 on the back of a century by captain Paras Dogra and 85 by Abdul Samad.

Although Auqib failed to pick up wickets in the second innings, he bowled tight lines and lengths. The other bowlers cashed in on that and bundled out Delhi for just 277, setting themselves a target of just 179 runs to chase.

Batter Qamran Iqbal slammed a magical ton in the chase as J&K won the game by 7 wickets, winning their first-ever game over Delhi. For his heroics with the ball, Nabi was awarded Player of the Match.

Will SRH Pick Up Auqib Nabi in IPL 2026 Auction?

With the kind of performances that he has displayed of late, Auqib Nabi would be in the SRH target players 2026 auction. In particular, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) would be keen to add him to the team and Kavya Maran might bid for the seamer.

Nabi, who can swing the ball both ways, can be a great replacement for Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who left the franchise last year. SRH, in IPL 2025, missed the services of Kumar as they didn’t have anyone who could make the new ball talk. Veteran pacer Mohammed Shami, who has been one of the best bowlers in the IPL, failed to make any impact last season.

With Nabi now making great strides forward in his career, franchises would be keen to add him to the mix. Also, him being handy with the bat will work in his favour as he eyes his maiden IPL contract.
