Ajax's Steven Transfer News

Steven Bergwijn transfer: Ajax forward could be available for just £20m

Ajax’s Steven transfer news is spread widely as West Ham United could reignite their interest in Dutch forward Steven Bergwijn in the summer transfer window, as Ajax will attempt to navigate their financial constraints after they missed out on Champions League football this term.

The Dutch giants who will finish fifth in the Eredivisie this season are expected to play in the Champions League every season. The club’s dire financial situation have cast doubt on some of their key players this summer. The club will navigate one of its most difficult periods in recent history and will be forced to sanction a few departures including Steven Bergwijn.

Steven Bergwijn West Ham transfer

Bergwijn West Ham transfer news confirms that the Dutch forward will be available for as low as £20m and the winger is a target of several Premier League clubs this summer. West Ham is reportedly gearing up for a summer spending spree and could rekindle their interest in Bergwijn.

The upcoming summer transfer window would be a crucial one for the Hammers as the club looks set to start a new era with Julen Lopetegui’s impending arrival as manager.

The West London outfit is expected to make a number of changes this summer and a host of different players could arrive even before the transfer window commences. Ajax’s financial situation presents an opportunity for the Hammers to sign Begwijn at a significantly reduced price of £20m.

They would need some serious reinforcements to replace Said Benrahma and Pablo Fornals who left the club in January. As the Bergwijn transfer rumors are now getting serious, Fabrizio Romano stated, that the Hammers are interested in striking a deal with the Amsterdam outfit.

Romano said on X (formerly Twitter): “Steven Bergwijn will be one to watch in the summer due to Ajax’s financial issues. Understand Bergwijn could be available on the market for a price tag of around £20m.

“He’s still in the list of several Premier League clubs after West Ham’s interest in January.”

Bergwijn has ample amount of Premier League experience having previously played for Tottenham Hotspur between 2020 and 2022. His arrival would not only address the lack of depth on the wings but also infuse much-needed quality and experience in the West Ham attack. Having spent some time away from the Premier League, the Dutch winger is expected to return to the English top flight as a much more experienced and stronger player.
