Al Ahli vs Al Nassr Match Preview

Al Ahli vs Al Nassr will take place at the King Abdullah Sports City in the Saudi Pro League on March 15 as the second and third placed teams lock horns.

The hosts enter this game on the back of a mixed run of form. They have recorded two wins, two draws and one defeat in their last five games across competitions. In that spell, Al Ahli have scored 10 goals but have also conceded a worrying seven goals. Their last outing was a narrow 1-0 away win against Al-Taawoun. Currently third in the SPL and six points behind their next opponents, they were looking for a win to close the gap.

The visitors, on the other hand, seem to be on a downward spiral heading into this game. After four consecutive wins, they recorded one draw and have lost each of their last three games since. In those defeats, Al Nassr have scored five times and conceded seven times. Their last outing saw them crash out of the AFC Champions League in heart-breaking fashion after a 3-1 defeat to Al-Ain on penalties (4-4 agg.). They were looking to put that setback behind them with a win in the next game.

With that said, let’s take a look at the team news coming out of both camps.

Manager Matthias Jaissle will have a relatively short injury list to deal with ahead of the next game. He will be without midfield duo Abdullah Otayf (cruciate ligament) and Gabri Veiga (ankle) as they are unlikely to return to action anytime soon.

Meanwhile, Mohammed Al-Majhad came off injured in the first half in their win last time around and will be assessed last minute. He is also at the risk of facing suspension, having already picked up four bookings already this season.

Al Nassr

Manager Luis Castro already had a few injury concerns to deal with, as three more players were added to the list in their game against Al-Ain.

Goalkeepers Raghed Al-Najjar and Waleed Abdullah are out long-term and will miss the foreseeable future. Anderson Talisca (muscle) is another key player who will remain sidelined for a while.

Meanwhile, defenders Abdulelah Al-Amri and Mohammed Al-Fatil came off injured in the last game and will be assessed before the next one. Abdulrahman Ghareeb scored and was then taken off injured, with his injury looking more serious than the other two.
