Arsenal record yet another Premier League win.

Arsenal break club record after win against Manchester United

Arsenal have defeated Manchester United 1-0 at Old Trafford in their Premier League showdown on Sunday, May 12. The Gunners have now picked up 27 league wins this season, the most in a season in the club’s history. The number is one more than the 2003-04 invincible did.

2003-04 was the last time Arsenal won the league. Arsene Wenger’s side won 26 matches and drew 12 that term, finishing with 90 points. This season Mikel Arteta’s side have won 27 so far and could end up with 28 if they beat Everton in the final matchday. While they could finish with 89 points, Arteta’s side winning the title is still uncertain.

Manchester City currently have 85 points from 36 matches. Unless Pep Guardiola’s side drop points, they will run away with the title, yet again. City play Tottenham Hotspur next on Tuesday, May 14.

Arsenal, meanwhile, did their job at Old Trafford, beating Spurs 1-0. Leandro Trossard scored the only goal of the game in the 20th minute. He was set up by Kai Havertz. The Gunners now have 86 points from 37 matches. They will play Everton at the Emirates on May 19.

Kai Havertz reacts to Arsenal’s win

Arsenal star Kai Havertz once again turned out to be decisive as the German set Leandro Trossard up for the solitary goal of the game. He reacted to the result, telling the media after the match (via afcstuff on X):

“Very important. I think to play here is always tough, we all know that. I think we prepared the game very well, we hadn’t got our best game but at the end, we needed that three points & we have it now, so we can be very happy with that.”

Havertz, since his summer move from Chelsea, has now scored 13 goals and has provided seven assists in 50 appearances for Arsenal. The Germany international continues to prove his quality.
