Bayern Munich Next Manager: Director Max Eberl hints at potential Jose Mourinho appointment

It will be yet another summer of big spending in the European football market as players and managers search for new homes. Bayern Munich, record German champions are on the hunt for a new manager after confirming the departure of current coach Thomas Tuchel. Jose Mourinho, one of the most successful coaches in the history of the game is a free agent after leaving AS Roma and fits the bill to be the next Bayern manager with Director Max Eberl not dismissing the idea of hiring him.

Jose Mourinho to Bayern Munich?

Director Max Eberl: “Of course we’re also looking into coaches who are currently available. Jose learning German? I don’t know,” told BILD.

According to reports in Germany, Jose is one of the shortlisted candidates to get the Bayern job with the likes of Xabi Alonso, Julian Nagelsmann and a few others also on the radar. Jose has a proven track record with big clubs across Europe and has managed big clubs like Chelsea, Manchester United, Real Madrid and Tottenham Hotspur. Apart from the Spurs job, Jose has won titles everywhere and could bring a winning mentality.

Jose’s most recent job at AS Roma was also a success story considering he led them to two European finals before being sacked. Mourinho will be aided by the presence of Harry Kane and Eric Dier at Bayern as he worked with them during his time at Spurs. Both players could prove crucial in Jose’s incoming if Bayern decide to take feedback from the English duo.

In terms of silverware, Jose has won league titles in every country he has coached including Porto in Portugal, Chelsea in England (thrice), Real Madrid in Spain and Inter Milan in Italy. The Portugal gaffer also won the Champions League with Porto (2004) and Inter Milan (2010) and has won the Europa League with Manchester United (2017) and the Conference League with Roma (2022).

Bayern Munich’s next manager

According to reports, Jose is interested in the Bayern job but he is Plan B with current Bayer Leverkusen boss Xabi Alonso top of their wish list. The Spaniard is attracting firm interest from Liverpool who will be without Jurgen Klopp next season. Real Madrid are also keeping tabs on Alonso as Carlo Ancelotti will enter a crucial period on his Madrid deal.

Appointment of Mourinho

If Mourinho does land the job, it will be his first one in Germany and could add to his series of silverware. However, in recent times Mourinho alongside success also brings a fair share of toxicity in the dressing room, which could be crucial in his appointment. Time will tell whether the German giants are ready to go for him or not.
