While defenders aren’t often the top scorers in Fantasy Premier League, their consistency and potential for clean sheet bonuses make them valuable assets. Gameweek 6 offers some intriguing fixtures, including the Manchester United vs Tottenham Hotspur clash. Here are five defenders to consider for your team.
5. Riccardo Calafiori
It was always going to be only a matter of time till new Arsenal signing Riccardo Calafiori forced his way into the Gunners’ starting XI and that has already happened. In his first Premier League start, the Italian centre back who is playing LB for the Gunners, scored an absolute scorcher against Manchester City. Last season for Bologna in Serie A, he had two goals and five assists in an even more defensive role highlighting his potential for points in Fantasy Premier League. This weekend, he faces a newly promoted Leicester City side who will struggle to score against Arsenal.
4. Milos Kerkez
Bournemouth’s flying left-back Milos Kerkez is also an interesting option. He is great at overlapping and Bournemouth play Southampton this weekend, who haven’t yet shown that much on their return to the Premier League. Kerkez is yet to register a goal contribution this season but a big return feels like it is soon coming for the Hungarian on Fantasy Premier League.

3. Ezri Konsa
Ezri Konsa is Mr. Dependable within the Aston Villa ranks. He has been an undisputed starter at centre back for the last couple of years despite the club signing new players there. Recently he has been playing right back in the absence of Matty Cash. He scored last week from that position against Wolves. Villa have another great fixture this weekend against Ipswich Town and Konsa is one to watch.
2. Trent Alexander-Arnold
Trent Alexander-Arnold is on a different level when it comes to defenders in Fantasy Premier League. Last week, against Bournemouth he provided his first assist of the season. That also happened to be his 100th goal contribution for Liverpool. As a 25-year-old defender, having 100-goal contributions is insane and that is why the right back is undroppable in the game. Liverpool face bottom of the table Wolves this weekend so expect another good haul from the Englishman.
1. Gabriel
Gabriel is in absolutely exquisite form at the moment. Not only does Arsenal concede the lowest number of goals in the Premier League, but Gabriel also scores the most out of all defenders in the league at the moment. He has scored two headers in the last two Premier League games and is absolutely invaluable in Fantasy Premier League. Arsenal face Leicester City this weekend, and with his potential to earn points on both ends of the pitch, he is a must-have.
