Borussia Dortmund vs Atletico Madrid 2nd Leg Preview Prediction and Betting Tips

Borussia Dortmund vs Atletico Madrid preview

Two unfancied contenders for the Champions League crown. The two teams given the worst chance, aside from Bayern Munich, to win the whole caboole by Opta’s supercomputer. And yet, going into the second-leg, Atletico Madrid are one of two sides to be ahead after the first-leg. Shocking and yet, it’s exactly what Diego Simeone would have been hoping to get going into the second leg.

Dortmund weren’t exactly at their very best, something that has been an issue for them all season long but they did dominate possession and still only managed to put 4 of their 12 shots on target. The Los Rojiblancos, on the other hand, managed 9 of 14, showing the change that Simeone has brought to his squad over the last few years.

Even then, given the way things ended last season for Atleti, they’re in a far better position going into the second leg. It’s Dortmund that have an issue as while Edin Terzic’s side defied the odds to top the ‘group of death’, overcoming an Atletico Madrid hurdle might be even harder. They’ve managed a decent run of form off late with just one loss in their last six games to keep their top-four hopes up.

But, will it be enough against El Cholo’s seasoned contenders at Atletico Madrid? Only time will tell.

Borussia Dortmund

Nico Schlotterbeck made his return against Atletico Madrid but the German giants are still without Donyell Malen, Abdoulaye Kamara and Ramy Bensebaini. Borussia Dortmund vs Atletico Madrid prediction

Always a defensive force, Atletico Madrid will be hard to break down and even if Diego Simeone is trying to adapt and evolve, his side will never stop being a defensive force. It’ll make Borussia Dortmund and Edin Terzic’s job that much harder which is why, this may just be the end for them.

Prediction: Borussia Dortmund 1-2 Atletico Madrid (Atletico Madrid go through to the semi-finals)
