Bournemouth vs Chelsea Preview
- Tournament: Premier League
- Date: Saturday, Sep 14
- Kick-off Time: 07:00 pm GMT
- Venue: Vitality Stadium, England
The hosts, Bournemouth have had a good start to their campaign in the Premier League as they sit eighth in the table with five points from their first three games. Under their manager, Andoni Iraola they have been promising and fans are hoping for a top-half finish, which would be a commendable performance after they were promoted in 2014.
With a relatively young and dynamic squad, the Cherries have ambitions to transcend Premier League mediocrity and push to become a club that competes for the European spot regularly. A win against Chelsea will lead to a good foundation stone for that ambition.
On the other hand, the Blues have had a mixed start to their campaign under new manager, Enzo Maresca picking up four points in three games. There have been instances where quality was evident on the pitch but the inconsistency kept them out. The summer transfer window has been an exciting one for them as usual considering the club is in the process of rebuild.
Maresca was appointed as the manager after he guided Leicester City to the premier league last season and is responsible for bringing the Chelsea side back to its expected standard. There have been news that relationships are broken between the ownership group as it is divided into two halves. These things will disturb the players as well as the manager but a win against the Cherries will be helpful to keep the spirits high in the dressing room.
Bournemouth Team News
They will look to continue their good run in the pursuit of finishing in the top halve of the table. Phillip Billing is a doubt for the cherries while Tyler Adams and Enes Unal remain sidelined. Luis Sinisterra will look to start this game after netting the winner in the last game as will defender, Dean Huijsen and midfielder Alex Scott.
They will also miss their goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga, who cannot play against his parent club.
Chelsea Team News
The Blue’s last outing was a 1-1 draw with Crystal Palace as Chelsea’s good first-half performance saw them take the lead through Nicolas Jackson but Palace worked their way back equalising. For the game against Bournemouth, they are racing against time for the fitness of Levi Colwill, who picked up a hamstring injury during the international break. Cole Palmer will also be doubtful for the game after withdrawing from the England squad at the start of the month. Christopher Nkunku is expected to get a recall to the starting XI.
