Neymar, Al Hilal

Brazilian superstar Neymar will not be part of Al Hilal summer camp

Injured Brazilian forward Neymar is expected to miss the start of the Saudi Pro League next season as the veteran still recovers from his knee injury. The 32-year-old forward will also miss the upcoming Copa America in the United States.

What has happened to Neymar?

The former PSG forward made a high-profile move to Saudi Pro League side Al Hilal in the summer of 2023 on a two-year contract. After making only five appearances for his new club, Neymar suffered an ACL injury while on international duty with Brazil in September 2023.

After undergoing successful surgery on his left knee, the 32-year-old was expected to be out until the end of this season. Even his national side, Brazil, was hopeful that Neymar would be fit and available for the upcoming Copa America 2024.

But this unfortunate injury, which usually takes 8 to 10 months to recover, will force him out of the Copa America 2024 which will take place in the United States this summer.

Latest update on Neymar’s injury

Neymar is expected to miss Al Hilal’s pre-season training camp, according to club manager Jorge Jesus. The injured Brazilian was recently seen ringside at one of boxing’s biggest fights between Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk, which was hosted at the Kingdom Arena Stadium in Saudi Arabia.

“All I know now is that the time given to Neymar to recover from similar injuries is approximately 10 to 11 months,” Al Hilal coach Jorge Jesus told reporters in Riyadh.

“If we calculate mathematically, he will not be ready at the beginning of pre-season training,” added Jesus.
