Brentford vs Manchester United Match Summary

The Red Devils started their first game after the international break against Thomas Frank’s men and the match ended in a 1-1 late drama. Man United’s top-four hopes were dealt with another blow after they conceded a last-minute equaliser against an underwhelming Brentford side.

Mason Mount had a fairy tale return when he scored his first goal for Man United in the late 95th minute away at Gtech Community Stadium. Kristoffer Ajer equalised in the 9th minute of injury time which came three minutes after Mount thought he netted the match winner of the tie. There were plenty of defensive worries for Erik ten Hag’s men as the Bees managed 31 shots, four of which hit the woodwork.

United now remain in sixth, 11 points off fourth-placed Aston Villa and eight off Tottenham Hotspur in fifth in the league standings.

Brentford’s No.1 made a brilliant reflex save to deny Ramsus Hojlund.

Mathias Jorgensen – 6/10

He was sturdy at the back and won ten aerial duels. He nearly opened the scoring with a header which skimmed the bar in the second-half.

Kristoffer Ajer – 8/10

He kept his composure, won his battle with Hojlund and scored a late equaliser to share the spoils of the game.

Nathan Collins – 5.5/10

He comfortably dealt with Garnacho on the wings but wasted possession on a few occasions.

Mads Roerslev – 6/10

Won the battle against Wan-Bissaka and gave United plenty of trouble on the left.

Yegor Yarmolyuk – 6/10

Had a great chance to open the scoring in the second half but was denied by Onana.

Mathias Jensen – 6/10

Made some wonderful final passes but the Bees couldn’t take advantage.

He was one of Brentford’s best players on the pitch and had a solid display against Man United midfielders.

He surprisingly had five chances but couldn’t convert either of them.

The Brentford forward had nine shots against Ten Hag’s men, one hit the woodwork and one was ruled out for an offside. He finally teed up a sublime pass to set up the equaliser.

He had a few solid chances and hit the woodwork like Toney.

Tried his best in defence and made an outstanding tackle on Yarmoliuk to deny him a goal.

Raphael Varane – 5/10

He was United’s best player in the first half, made a lot of blocks and interceptions before succumbing to another apparent ankle injury.

Victor Lindelof – 6.5/10

Initially struggled to keep Toney quiet but made a goal-saving block to deny the Englishman an opportunity. Injured his hamstring in the second half.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka – 7/10

He had an underwhelming performance in his unusual position as a left-back.

Kobbie Mainoo –5/10

Looked tired after making his debut for England in the international break but always kept his head when United were under pressure.

Scott McTominay – 3/10

The hero of the reverse fixture didn’t get the chance to showcase his goalscoring instincts and didn’t offer defensive resistance/.

Alejandro Garnacho – 4/10

He was a big disappointment, hardly created any danger and was taken off inside the hour.

Another underwhelming performance by the Man United captain but was given little to work with by his teammates.

Marcus Rashford – 5/10

He was wasteful when he had the ball and did little urgency in the press or defensive duties.

Rasmus Hojlund – 6/10

The Dane had a great chance to give United the lead in the second half but was denied by a fine save from Flekken. He was anonymous throughout the game and still looked rusty since his injury layoff.

Bagged his firs goal for the Red Devils scoring what he thought was the winner with a lovely finish.

Harry Maguire – 6/10

The England international looked a little shaky after replacing Lindelof in the second half. Maguire did well to prevent Toney from scoring but was clumsy overall.

Casemiro – 7/10

Replace Mainoo in the second half, and provided an assist for Mason Mount’s last-minute goal. He looked tired despite playing 10 minutes plus stoppage time.

Antony– 6/10

Looked more threatening and went close with his signature curling shot with his left foot.

Lisandro Martinez– 5/10

Gave the ball away with a terrible pass which Toney failed to capitalize.
