Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes explains his rift with Ex-teammate Anthony Martial

The Manchester United skipper and Portugal International, Bruno Fernandes spoke about his concern with his former club-mate Anthony Martial. Recently, the French striker was released in the summer after his term with the Red Devils completed, as Erik Ten Hag eventually decided the player was no longer required at the club.

The former Monaco sensation, Martial failed to cement his permanent spot in the team, despite spending nine seasons with the Premier League giants and also went on a brief loan spell to Sevilla. In 2020, Manchester United’s midfield magnifico Bruno Fernandes revealed his problems with the forward’s poor finishing and pattern of wasting chances in front of goal – which happens to be theAn key reason for the French player’s departure.

“With Marcus, there is always that kind of joke with him and Anto (Anthony Martial). I say to them every time I pass to them, they never score.”, Fernandes said, “They never give me assists. You see again that Anto missed that chance against Leeds. Straight away, I looked at him and started smiling. He understands what I mean by that.” in a sit-down interview on Manchester United’s website.

He added, “I think it’s good, it’s positive. Of course, sometimes you have to shout at your team-mate and call him to do different things, that’s also a big part of the game, that you’re pushing a bit more for the other team-mates.”

Anthony Martial concluded his long nine-year turmoil spell at Old Trafford, having played 317 matches and netting 90 goals and 47 assists for the Premier League club across all competitions. The 28-year-old is currently without a club — a free agent following his release from Old Trafford in July, last month.
