Burnley vs Wolves Preview:

  • Date: 2 April, Tuesday
  • Kick-off Time: 6:45 PM (GMT)
  • Stadium: Turf Moor

Burnley are set to host Wolves on Matchday 31 in the Premier League at Turf Moor.  The Clarets have struggled all season and continue to labor through the season in 19th position. The club achieved promotion in the summer on the back of an excellent 22/23 season in the Championship. However, after accumulating just 18 points in the league, it seems the club is bound to return to the lower rung. If things don’t change, the club is bound to be relegated as the margin between safety and them broadens.

Meanwhile, traveling to Turf Moor are Wolves. The residents of Molineux Stadium have had an impressive season in the Premier League till now as they sit in the top half of the table with 41 points. For context, Wolves managed to accumulate 41 points in the entirety of last season in the league. While their form has dwindled a little in the last few weeks, they will be eager to return to winning ways against Burnley after their 2-0 loss against Aston Villa on Saturday.

Vincent Komany’s Burnley has managed to secure only one victory in their last 13 matches in the Premier League. While they managed to hold Chelsea to a shocking 2-2 draw over the weekend, they will enter the battle against Wolves with several injuries.

Burnley were lucky to sign Aaron Ramsey earlier this season. However, unfortunately for the residents of Turf Moor, the wide player sustained a long-term injury and has been ruled out for the season. He will be accompanied by winger Nathan Redmond who also sustained a freak injury in training and is unlikely to return anytime soon. While central defender Jordan Breyer has been recovering well, it is unknown when he is expected to return for Burnley. It is unlikely that he will make an appearance in Burnley vs Wolves for the Clarets.

Youngster Luca Koleosho has been fantastic for Burnley on the wing this season, but the knee injury he sustained in December will continue to sideline him till later this month.

Right-back Lorenz Assignon received a red card against Chelsea and will miss the Burnley vs Wolves tie via suspension.

Traveling to Turf Moor, Wolves will continue to be without the services of striker Pedro Neto. The forward has been the cornerstone of Wolves’ attack and his hamstring injury on 9 March was a big blow. His partner in attack and ex-Atletico Madrid man Matheus Cunha also sustained an injury back in February. However, Wolves will be hopeful to have him back in time for the game.

Hee-Chan Hwang has also been crucial to Wolves going forward and his recent injury will continue to sideline him for the Burnley tie. Jean Ricner Bellegarde’s ankle injury will rule him out of the Burnley tie as well. Craig Dawson’s groin strain is also unlikely to heal in time for him to join the squad for the trip to Turf Moor.

Burnley vs Wolves Prediction:

Burnley and Wolves will both enter the tie on the back of a horrible few weeks. Wolves recently were stunned by Championship side Coventry in the FA Cup quarter-finals as Wolves lost 2-3 to them at home!

It is hard to determine which team will come out on top given the slump both squads are in. However, Burnley will certainly be boosted by their recent draw against big dogs Chelsea and will rely on the home crowd to intimidate Wolves. On paper, Wolves are stronger and on the night they are likely to win Burnley vs Wolves by a thin margin.

Predicted Score: Burnley 1-2 Wolves
