FA Cup Final: Casemiro has been left out of Manchester United’s squad

The Brazilian was initially named on the bench

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has left out Casemiro from his matchday squad to face Manchester City in the FA Cup final today. The Brazilian was named among the substitutes earlier, but has now been completely ostracized owing to an injury.

According to reports, the Red Devils were forced to make a change at the last minute with Willy Kambwala coming in for Casemiro. The midfielder had played in their last 10 consecutive games since returning from his previous knock.

Casemiro played in the centre-back position during that run due to United’s lack of options in defense owing to a concerning injury crisis, but now with Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez back, the Brazilian misses out yet again.

It’s been a difficult season for the former Real Madrid star, who has struggled to replicate the highs of his first season with injuries playing their part here.

Farewells for Varane and Ten Hag

Manchester United’s FA Cup final also marks farewell appearances for Raphael Varane and head coach Erik ten Hag, who is set to get sacked post the clash, regardless of the result. The Dutchman oversaw the club’s worst ever Premier League campaign as United finished in eighth position with only 60 points from 38 games. Varane, meanwhile, runs out of his contract next month and is set to leave the Old Trafford side for newer pastures.
