Chelsea Transfer News: London club excels up their interest in Shakhtar Donetsk’s midfielder

The Premier League club Chelsea have recently stepped up their on-field performances under their Argentine manager Mauricio Pochettino. At the beginning of the 2023-2024 campaign, the club was struggling to stitch up a consistent run of performances after spending nearly one billion pounds on the transfer budget.

However, with the Blues slowly and steadily progressing up in the table in this Premier League season after a decent number of wins in their recent fixtures a potential European qualification spot looks likely for them to achieve for. Amidst this rise of the London-based club, reports have pointed out that they have intensified their interest in Ukrainian club Shakhtar Donetsk’s £65 million rated midfielder.

The player happens to be 21-year-old Ukraine-born attacking midfielder Georgiy Sudakov. However, as per ‘Mail Sport’ and as quoted by ‘Transfer News Live’, the Blues are not alone in the race to sign the midfielder. Their rival Premier League clubs like Liverpool, Man City, and Arsenal are also reportedly keeping tabs on the player. It remains to be seen how things progress for the Blues regarding their interest in Shakhtar’s player in the upcoming transfer window.

It would be interesting to find out if the Blues do manage to bring him to Stamford Bridge how Mauricio Pochettino will utilise him. It can be thought out that his style of play can certainly suit the Premier League club as it will provide them more dynamicity in the middle of the park aiding other players like Conor Gallagher and Cole Palmer in the team.

Georgiy Sudakov’s numbers in the 2023-2024 season so far for Shakhtar Donetsk

The Chelsea transfer target Georgiy Sudakov signed for the Ukrainian Premier League club Shakhtar Donetsk in January 2021. His current contract with the club darts till June 2028. He is one of the most prominent performers for the club in recent times and has turned out to be an X-factor for them during crucial junctures of this season.

In his 22 appearances in the Ukrainian league for his club, the 21-year-old attacking midfielder has five goals and four assists to his tally. He has started about 70 percent of the matches for Shakhtar in this campaign in the Ukrainian Premier League. In the UEFA Champions League this season, he has had six outings and managed to net one goal. In the Europa League 2023-2024, Georgiy played two games and scored a single goal for his team.
