Cristiano Ronaldo failed to convert a beautiful ball from teammate Marcelo Brozovic into a goal

The Al-Nassr forward Cristiano Ronaldo missed a very decent chance to score for his side in their most recent Saudi Pro League match against close rivals Al-Riyadh. The way CR7 took the shot towards the goal and was unable to convert that opportunity would have surprised many of his supporters. It can be termed as one of the rarest misses by the Portuguese veteran.

His teammate Marcelo Brozovic played a beautiful and precisely weighted pass to find him in space inside the opponent’s defensive line. Ronaldo was also able to receive the ball well onto his feet. By that time Al-Riyadh’s goalkeeper was quite out of his position as he didn’t expect that pass to Cristiano Ronaldo from Brozovic. CR7 went on with the ball for about 1-2 yards and then decided to pull the trigger.

As seen in the video, the legendary forward kind of chipped the ball with his right foot to get it above Riyadh’s goalkeeper. But, the ball after bouncing wide of the goal wasn’t on target and slanted to the right of it, as the scoring opportunity went begging for the number seven and his team. CR7 seemed quite disappointed with his tame effort.

Al-Nassr went on to draw the game against Al-Riyadh by a scoreline of 2-2. They were initially trailing the match by 2-1 before a 97th-minute equalizer scored by Meshari Al-Nemer rescued their night. However, one could only wonder if Ronaldo could have taken that chance and scored, maybe his team would have left with more than one point from the game.

Cristiano Ronaldo is still the highest goal-scorer in the Saudi Pro League this season

Cristiano Ronaldo has been consistent in front of the goal for Al-Nassr in the 2023-2024 Saudi Pro League campaign so far. The 39-year-old has shown that age is just a number and is firing all cylinders by being the highest goal-scorer in the Saudi League this season as of now. He is averaging more than a goal per match with Al-Nassr.

In his 30 outings for his club, CR7 has managed to net 33 goals in the top tier of Saudi football. He has topped up his goals by also having 11 assists to his tally in these matches played. Overall his total goal contribution number stands at 44 for this season at this stage. He is well ahead of any other player in this department as well.
