Gabri Veiga Injury: When will the Spanish midfielder return to action for Al Ahli?

Gabri Veiga’s injury is a significant setback for Al Ahli

Al Ahli Saudi midfielder Gabri Veiga picked up an injury recently, with the club fearing he would be out for a lengthy period.

However, reports from journalist Fabrizio Romano suggest the injury is less severe than initially feared. Veiga tweaked his right ankle following a robust tackle from an Al Akhdood player in their last SPL encounter.

Al Ahli ended up losing the game 3-2 despite goals from Roberto Firmino and Solomon Kvirkvelia. Spanish midfielder Gabri Veiga ended up playing just 36 minutes of the contest. Following the tackle, he was replaced by Ziyad Aljohani as he was unable to carry on with the injury.

Romano’s reports add that the Spanish midfielder (Gabri Veiga injury) will now miss between eight to 10 weeks of action for his club. Additionally, it was speculated that he would require surgery to fully recover. However, upon further examination by the club’s medical staff, Gabri Veiga was cleared to recover without needing surgery.

Gabri Veiga since joining Al Ahli

Gabri Veiga joined Al Ahli Saudi in August 2023 from Spanish side Celta de Vigo for a reported fee in the region of €35 million. Aged just 21, the move took many in the footballing world by surprise as a youngster moved away from Europe to further their career.

Since joining, Veiga has made 18 appearances for Al Ahli across competitions, scoring four goals and providing four assists. A talented midfielder who usually plays on the left side of a double pivot, Veiga has good passing range and dribbling ability. His nearly six-foot frame also allows him to contest duels well as he uses his physicality to his advantage.

Having only faced minor knocks before, this will be Gabri Veiga’s first-ever lengthy period on the sidelines. The Spaniard will look to get back to full fitness and make a return for Al Ahli before their season ends.
