Georgia vs Greece Player Ratings as Georgia win a thriller in penalty shootouts!

Georgia vs Greece kicked-off on Tuesday as both nations looked to win the Path C finals in the EURO Qualifiers and  reach the Euros 2024 in Germany later this year. The closely contested game in Boris Paichadze Dinamo Arena in Georgia saw both teams struggle to break each other down in normal time taking the game to extra time and eventually penalties. Despite both sides going toe to toe all night only one side could emerge victorious and at the end it was Georgia who qualified for the Euros in Germany via penalties! Let’s take a look at how the game went down in Georgia and take a look at the Georgia vs Greece player ratings.

Georgia vs Greece: A closely contested battle as Georgia emerge victorious on penalties!

The Georgians knew a victory against Greece would mean that they would seal their first spot in the Euros ever. With that goal in mind, Georgia put up a solid front against a strong Greece attack. The Greeks created a plethora of opportunities, but couldn’t beat Giorgi Mamardashvili and score. Georgia also had a few chances on the counter but they weren’t clinical enough to avail of the opportunities. After the referee showed goalkeeper Giorgi Loria a red card for violent conduct from the bench at the end of the first half, Georgia were much cautious in their approach to the game.

As neither Georgia nor Greece could find a goal in normal time, extra time followed. Greece managed to carve up a beautiful opportunity in extra time only to fluff their chances. The miss meant that the game headed into the dreaded penalties. Kochorashvili stepped up for Georgia first and scored a sublime penalty. Unfortunately for Greece, their first penalty taker was Bakasetas who shot the ball right into the path of the diving Mamardashvili. The save sunk Greece slightly and what followed was a victory for Georgia on the night as they converted four of their penalties while Greece managed to score only two.

The win for Georgia will see them participate in the Euro 2024 in Germany later this year. On that note, let’s take a look at the Georgia vs Greece Player Ratings!
