Inter Miami vs New York City Preview

Inter Miami vs New York City will take place in the Major League Soccer (MLS) on March 31 in a clash between teams at opposite ends of the Eastern Conference standings.

The hosts will enter the next game on the back of a mixed run of form. In that time, they have won two, lost two and drawn one of the five games they played. In a worrying sign for the team, they have failed to keep a single clean sheet in this run, conceding 11 goals and scoring 10. Their last game was a 4-0 humbling at the hands of fellow New Yorkers NY Red Bulls. Having underperformed in that one, they were looking to do better in the next one.

The visitors, on the other hand, find themselves in a spot of bother early in the season. They have won just once in their last five matches, losing the other four. In this spell, New York have scored just three goals and conceded seven as they desperately need to find form and consistency. Their last outing was a narrow 1-0 defeat at Cincinnati as Luciano Acosta’s second-half goal was enough for the hosts. Now, NY City were looking to do better in the next outing.

Manager Tata Martino will have a considerably long injury list to deal with ahead of his team’s next game. The main talking point being Lionel Messi, with the Argentine set to miss the next game, having picked up a muscular injury on March 15.

Another area for concern is the goalkeeping department. Drake Callender started in Miami’s 3-1 win at DC United but was left out for their last game. He will undergo a late fitness test and could be added to the matchday squad in the 11th hour.

Meanwhile, Robbie Robinson and Nicolas Freire remain sidelined having missed the last couple of games. They are expected to return in the next couple of weeks.

New York City

Manager Nicholas Cushing has a much shorter injury list, but could be left to sweat about the fitness of two key players after the last game. Starters Kevin O’Toole and Birk Risa both came off injured in the second half of the team’s last game and could miss out on the next outing.

Meanwhile, long-term absentees Talles Magno and Maxi Moralez remain sidelined and are not expected to return for the foreseeable future.
