Now the veteran goalscorer is back in Portugal and will spearhead his national side to another European Championship trophy this summer. The 39-year-old player will play his sixth edition of the tournament in Germany this June. Ronaldo is the leading goalscorer in the tournament with 14 goals. The Euro 2016 winner will be looking to spearhead his national side with several superstar names in the ranks.

New coach Roberto Martinez has retained the services of Cristian Ronaldo as captain of the Selecao since his appointment after the 2022 World Cup. After concluding his season in Saudi Arabia, Ronaldo was seen on vacation with his family in the Red Sea.

He missed the team’s previous friendly against Finland on June 4. Ronaldo has now returned to first-team training but will miss the tie against Croatia on Saturday night before the team travels to Germany for the European Championships.

Ronaldo will be playing in his 12th international tournament and could participate in the next friendly encounter against the Republic of Ireland on Tuesday, 11 June.
