Jamie Vardy’s wife Rebekah Vardy admits being a WAG is ‘hard’

Jamie Vardy wife feels they have to spend much of the season “in the shadows”

Leicester City star Jamie Vardy’s wife Rebekah Vardy has opened up on the difficulties of being a football WAG. The 42-year-old recently penned an emotional tribute to her fellow wives and girlfriends wherein she spoke of how their lives are put on hold and how they get “unfairly judged” by the press.

In light of Leicester’s recent promotion to the Premier League, Vardy, who has been married to Jamie since 2016, put out an emotional tribute to her fellow Leicester WAGs on Instagram, expressing gratitude for their love and support, while also acknowledging the challenges of being married to a sports personality.

She wrote:

“And finally a big shout out to these girls. Without your love, support and strength they couldn’t have done it. You spend seasons in the shadows but need the recognition you all deserve. It’s hard being a wife/girlfriend of a sportsman.

“Your lives get put on hold, you get scrutinised, unfairly judged, you support unconditionally through the good times and the bad and are always there to pick up the pieces when things go to s**. As the saying goes, ‘behind every successful man is a good woman’. So to you all and to everyone that works so tirelessly behind the scenes with too many to name thank you for making everything possible.”

Rebekah and Jamie Vardy met in 2014 when she was a party planner and helped organize the striker’s party. The pair have two daughters, Sofia, 10, and Olivia, four, as well as a son, Finley, seven.

Leicester are back in the Premier League

Just a year after their shock relegation from the Premier League, Leicester City have secured an immediate return following a terrific campaign in the Championship. With 31 wins and 97 points from 46 games, the Foxes won the second division, and Jamie Vardy once again played a key role behind it with 18 goals in 35 matches.
