Manchester United Set to Appoint Jason Wilcox as Club’s New Technical Director

Jason Wilcox was continued to be linked with a move to Manchester United taking over a role as the club’s technical director. The rumours heated up in the last week or so. However, it seems like the saga might have found its conclusion now.

Despite facing certain hurdles in their way in terms of appointing Jason Wilcox as their new technical director, Manchester United persisted in their chase for him. As it turned out, reports suggest, that Wilcox is set to be appointed as the Red Devils’ technical director officially. It has also been exerted by the transfer market expert Fabrizio Romano that Championship side Southampton were not in tune with whatever United was offering for Wilcox resulting in him resigning from the club.

As the Man United hierarchy looks to shake things up under the new minority ownership of INEOS’ CEO Sir Jim Ratcliffe it would be interesting to figure out how Jason Wilcox’s venture at the giants of English football turns out to be. However, Wilcox is not new to the pressure of English football as he knows how things work there from his past experiences but would be keen to make his mark at the club.

According to the reports EFL Championship side Southampton were not quite pleased with the way Manchester United tried to poach Jason Wilcox from them and the timing of it. The former Premier League club are on the verge of earning its spot back in the top tier of English football and any unwanted changes at the higher hierarchy could directly or indirectly affect their chances of promotion.

However, now with the reports of Jason Wilcox resigning from the club, perhaps Southampton could make peace with themselves reflecting on the fact that an approach from Manchester United can be too big a distraction for anyone in the footballing world.
