Klopp Expresses Concern Over Ankle Injury of Bobby Clark

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp voiced his apprehension regarding the ankle injury of Bobby Clark, expressing hopes that the setback is not serious but admitting his worries after the midfielder was forced off during Liverpool’s commanding 6-1 victory over Sparta Prague.

Jurgen Klopp Comments on Injury to Bobby Clark

Clark, who made his first European start, showcased his talent with an early goal, marking his maiden senior goal for the Reds. However, Klopp’s elation was dampened as Clark signalled discomfort in his ankle and had to be substituted in the 73rd minute.

Speaking to TNT Sports, Klopp emphasized Clark’s significant contribution before the injury:

“He played incredibly. It was his first goal but he won the ball back then and he was after another one.”

Expressing his concerns about Clark’s injury, Klopp stated,

“He is the one I am worried a bit about, as we wanted to take off Mo [Salah], but Bobby sits on the ground and says he feels something in the ankle. Hopefully it is nothing.”

Despite the setback, Klopp commended Clark’s progress, highlighting the resilience shown by the squad amidst injury challenges:

“The steps the boy made though, pfff [wow]! We’ve had such a difficult situation with all the injuries and then the boys stepped in and took their chances. So I’m very happy with that, they were exceptional again.”

Clark’s impressive performance, including his goal and an assist for Mo Salah’s landmark 20th goal of the season, underscored his growing importance to Liverpool’s midfield.

However, with the Reds already grappling with midfield absences, including Ryan Gravenberch, Curtis Jones, Thiago Alcantara, and Stefan Bajcetic, Clark’s injury adds to Klopp’s selection headaches.
