Kylian Mbappe receives superstar treatment like Ronaldo and Messi after PSG demolish Barcelona in the UCL

Kylian Mbappe was at the forefront of things following Barcelona vs PSG which ended in a 4-1 win for the Parisians. This means they won their UEFA Champions League quarter-final tie 6-4 on aggregate and advanced to the semis.

Mbappe played a big role as he bagged a brace to put the game beyond Barca’s reach. Having failed to score in the first leg, these goals will surely give him a lift.

Superstar Kylian Mbappe: What happened after Barcelona vs PSG?

As soon as Mbappe’s penalty hit the back the net, there was a collective sigh from the home fans accepting their fate of elimination. At the same time, there was a chorus of loud cheers from the away support, who travelled several thousand miles to see their team progress.

The full time whistle came shortly after, drawing contrasting reactions from both sets of players and coaches. PSG players were visibly elated with the result as they celebrated all over the pitch. In this chaos, several fans invaded the pitch from the stands and ran up to Kylian Mbappe to ask for photos and autographs.

One fan took to X (Twitter) to liken the treatment Mbappe is now getting, to the treatment Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi have got for most of their careers. Fans can often be seen invading the field when those two juggernauts are in action, with Mbappe now the next big thing on the block, ready to fill their shoes.

A disappointing night for Xavi and his men

Barcelona were on the back foot as soon as Ronald Araujo was sent off midway through the first period after the Uruguayan committed a last-man foul on Bradley Barcola. Shortly after, manager Xavi Hernandez too was sent to the stands for protesting a decision.

Ousmane Dembele gave PSG hope as he scored in the 40th minute to bring the tie to 4-3 on aggregate, albeit in Barca’s favour. The Parisians did not give up and made a stunning start to the second half, scoring just nine minutes after the restart in the form of Vitinha’s stunner. Seven minutes later, they were awarded a penalty which Kylian Mbappe converted.

The Frenchman then sealed the deal with his second goal in the 89th minute, bringing an end to one of the all-time classic Champions League knockout ties.
