Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami shirt is Adidas’ “number one jersey” across all sports

Lionel Messi has made a huge impact on and off the pitch since joining Inter Miami in Major League Soccer (MLS). Since his arrival, the club has seen several positive changes with him being the focal point.

Now, MLS commissioner Don Garber has revealed another record that the Argentine has broken.

As per reports from The Athletic, Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami shirt was the MLS’ best-seller in 2023. What is remarkable is that he joined halfway through the season and needed just three months to achieve the feat.

Commissioner Garber has now revealed Messi’s shirt is not only the MLS’ best-seller, but also Adidas’ overall best-selling jersey, across sports.

This is quite significant as Adidas are the kit suppliers for some of the world’s best sports teams. Within the footballing world, they have been long-term sponsors for Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and Juventus. Premier League giants Arsenal and Manchester United were recent additions to the list of elite clubs sponsored by the German brand.

Adidas also has a long-standing relationship with FIFA as the official football supplier for World Cup events for the last few decades. They also provide the kits for the national teams of Argentina, Belgium, Germany, and Spain, among others.

Lionel Messi’s stats for Inter Miami so far

Messi joined the Miami-based club midway through the 2023 MLS season following the expiration of his contract with Paris Saint-Germain. He made 14 appearances for the club across competitions, scoring 11 goals and providing five assists.

The Argentine has made a strong start to the current campaign and has been at the forefront of Inter Miami’s good form. He has made five appearances across competitions, scoring five goals and providing two assists. Lionel Mesi was on target and also provided an assist in his team’s 3-1 win over Nashville in their last game.

Miami are currently top of the Eastern Conference with seven points from four games, with two wins, one draw and one defeat.
