Malcom was born in the city of São Paulo, located in Brazil on February 26, 1997. His father was inspired by the African-American activist Malcolm X, and hence he named his son in respect of this legend. Malcom began his football career with the Corinthians which was the youth club of his city.
He played in his first professional match under the Copa do Brasil first-round game, where his team won with a scoreline of 2-0. Later, Malcom made his Campeonato Brasileiro Série A by substituting for Romarinho in the same year. Overall he scored a total of 10 goals in the 70 matches he played for Corinthians.
During the initial stages of his career, Malcom represented Corinthians and had a mediocre record of scoring 10 goals in the matches he played. He became the first player to win the Player of the Season for the club during the 2015 Campeonato Brasileiro Série A. His major breakthrough came when he was signed by Bordeaux as a replacement for Wahbi Khazri during the year 2016.
However, the season didn’t go well for him. However, as soon as he signed his second contract for the club to play until 2021, he scored 12 goals in the 2017 season alone. Overall, he scored 23 goals for the club, playing for around 3 seasons and a total of 96 matches. His goal against Dijon during the 2017 season was voted for goal of the season under the Trophées UNFP du football.
During the year 2018, Barcelona signed Malcom for a whopping amount of €41 million, for a time span of 5 years. Malcom scored his first goal in the Jersey of Barcelona while playing against Inter Milan in the UEFA Champions League in which he drew the game for his team with a scoreline of 1-1. Again in 2019, he scored his first goal for the club under La Liga and made his team draw the match against Villarreal CF with a scoreline of 4-4.
Again, in 2019 Malcom joined Zenit Saint Petersburg for a transfer fee of €40 million and an additional fee of €5 million. He scored his first goal for the club in the match against FC Lokomotiv Moscow and made his team win the title with a scoreline of 6-1. Ultimately, he became the topmost scorer of the 2022–23 Russian Premier League with a total of 23 goals scored throughout the league.
Finally, in the year 2023 with a huge amount of €60 million, Malcom was transferred to Al Hilal playing under the Saudi Pro League. He made his debut against Al Ittihad and scored a goal in the match leading to a 3-1 victory for his club in the quarter-finals of Arab Club Champions Cup. During his first game in the Saudi Pro League, he scored a hat-trick against Abha and ensured the victory of his team with a scoreline of 3-1.
Malcom initially represented Brazil’s under-20 national team and competed in the South American Youth Football Championship, where he scored a total of 1 goal in the 6 appearances he made. During the 2015 FIFA U-20 World Cup, Malcom represented Brazil in 5 matches in total and made his team to the final, where they ultimately lost against Serbia.
During the year 2018, Malcom was part of the senior team in the friendly matches played against Argentina and Saudi Arabia. During the year 2021, Malcom joined his team for the 2020 Summer Olympics where he scored the winning goal for the team in the finals, and made his team victorious with a scoreline of 2-1 against Spain.
