Manchester City vs Manchester United Player Ratings

Manchester City vs Manchester United Player Ratings as Erik Ten Hag wins second trophy with Red Devils

Manchester United have done the impossible and defeated Manchester City in the FA Cup final. The Red Devils have handed Pep Guardiola his first defeat in a domestic cup competition since moving to England.

Joško Gvardiol played a vital role in the opening goal as he headed the ball past his own goalkeeper to put Garnacho through. The Argentine made no mistake and made it 1-0 to Manchester United.

Bruno Fernandes left every Manchester City defender wrong footed with a brilliant pass to Mainoo, and the teenager made no mistake from inside the box to make it 2-0 before half time.

Manchester City kept knocking on the door, but only managed to pull one back in the final stages. Doku scored in the 87th minute to make it an exciting finish, but the scoreline stayed 2-1.

Here are the Manchester City vs Manchester United player ratings:

Stefan Ortega – 5

Comical error for the first goal and then caught flat-footed for the second. Could have done a lot better for both, and it would have made a massive difference for Manchester City.

Kyle Walker – 6.5

Tracked back and managed to stop most of the Manchester United counter-attacks. However, he was unable to do much in attack to get them back in the game.

John Stones – 7

The pick of the Manchester City defenders as he was on top of the Manchester United attackers throughout the game.

Nathan Aké – 6

The Dutchman was not at his best today and was taken off at halftime by Pep Guardiola. He was replaced by Manuel Akanji and City looked better in defence.

Joško Gvardiol – 5

The left-back was at fault for the first goal as he headed the ball over Ortega and put Garnacho through to an open net. That shifted the momentum completely, and City never recovered.

Rodri – 7

The Spaniard was easily Manchester City’s second best player today but hardly had to do anything in defence. He was the link between the defence and attack, but none of his passes led to goals.

Mateo Kovačić – 5

Hardly made an impact today and was taken off at halftime by Pep Guardiola. The tackle on Fernandes was his only highlight of the game.

Bernardo Silva – 6

A ghost in the entire match, as he hardly made an impact. Erik ten Hag always had two men on him and it worked well.

Kevin De Bruyne – 4

De Bruyne was, without a doubt, the worst Manchester City player on the pitch today. The Belgian was hooked off just before the hour mark to get Doku into the game.

Phil Foden – 8

The only Manchester City star who kept trying until the very end. However, his end product was missing today and it cost Manchester City.

Erling Haaland – 5

Haaland will complain about the penalty shouts not going his way, but it is yet another final in which the striker has not scored. It was his 5th with Manchester City and he is yet to score.

Manuel Akanji – 6

On for Ake at halftime and did much better than the Dutchman. He ensured the defence had more structure and stopped Manchester United.

Jérémy Doku – 7

Pep Guardiola brought on Doku for Kovacic at halftime and it worked at the very end. He got the goal for City, but that was they could not make a comeback in the game.

Julián Álvarez – 6

Missed an easy chance after coming on for De Bruyne, and that was a costly error for the Cityzens.

Manchester United player ratings

André Onana – 7

Apart form the goal conceded to Doku, Onana had a solid game in which he ensured Manchester United kept the lead. He was good with his feet too and that helped his side keep more of the ball.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka – 8

Got frisked by Doku for the goal, but just like Onana, that was his only negative from the match. He was brilliant in defence and ensured City were not getting time on their left-flank.

Raphaël Varane – 8

What a way to finish his career at Manchester United. Put on a stunning display and showed the fans what they were missing in most of the season.

Lisandro Martínez – 8.5

The Butcher was on another level compared to the other players on the pitch. He was solid against Erling Haaland and kept the striker quiet.

Diogo Dalot – 8

The Portuguese was playing as a left-back once again, and proved that he was versatile and solid in defence.

Kobbie Mainoo – 9

The goal was the icing on top of the cake as he dominated Rodri in the middle and was easily the best player on the pitch.

Sofyan Amrabat – 7

Decent outing in what could be his last match for Manchester United if they do not extend the loan or sign him permanently.

Alejandro Garnacho – 9

The teenager was a livewire on the pitch and became the first teenager since Cristiano Ronaldo to score in the FA Cup final.

Marcus Rashford – 6

A decent outing, but hardly effective compared to the other Manchester United players.

Bruno Fernandes – 8.5

He was springing passes and starting the counter-attacks for Manchester United at every chance. His assist for Mainoo’s goal was just sublime!

Scott McTominay – 7

Another solid display from the Scotsman who was all over the Manchester City players.

Rasmus Hojlund – 8

Came on for the final 25+ minutes and did his job to perfection. He held the ball up and his late counter-attack ensured Manchester City were far away from the United goal in the final second.

Jonny Evans – 7

The veteran ensured that the defence was solid even after Lisandro Martinez was subbed off.

Victor Lindelof – 5

Hardly made an impact after coming on in added-time.

Mason Mount – 5

Hardly made an impact after coming on in added-time.
