Mykhailo Mudryk makes his promise buying a journalist new phone

In October, Ukraine midfielder Mykhailo Mudryk noticed one journalist that kept recording him with a phone. The Chelsea player then asked if the phone could cover all of the moments to which the journalist answered that his phone was running out of storage.

Mykhailo Mudryk then told the journalist that he needs to buy a new phone for that person. A few days ago, he kept his promise when they met prior to Ukraine’s Euro qualifying match in Bosnia.

“You again?,” Mudryk said in October. “And again with the camera? How much capacity does your phone have?” The journalist then replied ‘130 gb. The storage capacity is exhausted’.

The 23-year old then replied: “I’ll have to buy you a new phone because your storage is full of videos of me.”

Mudryk has 23 caps with the national team since debuting in 2022. He has one goal in his collection which he earned when facing Malta in October last year. With Chelsea, he has also started to gain the trust of Mauricio Pochettino.

Mykhailo Mudryk has started to impress the manager at Chelsea

This season so far, Mudryk played in 33 games with Chelsea, scoring six. His latest goal came in a game versus Newcastle United at Stamford Bridge where his side won 3-2 over the North East side.

Pochettino praised Mudryk after that goal, adding that it was something he expected from the Ukrainian. He also appreciated the player’s development lately, but still demands a more competitive mentality within the team.

“It was a very good goal, he scored a really good goal and that is what we expect from a player that came from the bench, an impact,” Poch said. “Then it’s about to compete with different players in the position he can play and then deserve to play. It’s more of a question for him than for me.”

Mudryk has some competitors in Chelsea for the position he plays. The club has Raheem Sterling, Cole Palmer, Christian Nkunku, and Armando Broja all looking to impress. Pochettino has admitted he would wait patiently for his young players to show their full potential on the pitch.

“Yes. We need time,” Pochettino said in response to his young players via Football London. “It’s a good question because they are young and they need to play if they want to evolve to be ready to play. It’s true in the same competition, we need to compete and win games.”
