Neymar Jr injury has kept him out of on-field playing action since he suffered an ACL (Anterior Cruciate Ligament) injury. The forward caught the injury scare while playing for Brazil in one of its FIFA World Cup Qualifier matches last year.
The chances of Neymar playing for Brazil at the Copa America 2024
Reports signify that Neymar is still quite on his way to fully recover from the ACL injury sustained. The Al-Hilal forward also went through surgery earlier directed towards his ACL. After the surgical procedures, he has been pretty much seen in a recovery and rehabilitation mode in some of the social media posts shared by him.
As per the reports, the approaching Copa America would be too soon for the veteran Brazilian player to return to the on-field action. It has been termed that he is likely to miss the tournament. Earlier Brazil’s national team physician, Rodrigo Lasmar also hinted towards Neymar’s unavailability for the much-anticipated summer competition. Lasmar stated that Copa America would be “too early” for Neymar Jr. to return.
Rodrigo Lasmar further pointed out that “patient” is the key as far as the 32-year-old player’s return is concerned. He opined that a tentative time duration of nine months is common when it comes to recovery after such ligament surgery undergone by Neymar.
Neymar Jr.’s numbers for Brazil at the international stage
Neymar Jr. has been an important player for Brazil since his arrival for his national country on the international stage. In his 128 matches for Brazil at the highest level so far, the 32-year-old has managed to net a significant sum of 79 goals. His game-awareness, sheer pace, and dribbling skills further enhance the team’s attacking threat.
Neymar is also perfectly capable of linking up with his teammates during crucial junctures of a match. Brazil’s national team management would be hoping that he gets back to full fitness as soon as possible.
