Who will be the potential FPL replacements for Phil Foden?

The Manchester City star endured a minor injury late in the Champions League quarter-final 3-3 draw against Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Latest Update on Phil Foden’s Injury

The English midfielder played a vital role with his exquisite second-half stunner from the edge of the penalty area with his left foot. Despite getting benched in the previous domestic tie against Crystal Palace, Foden was brilliant on the night at the Bernabeu.

The stunning strike was his 22nd goal in 45 appearances across competitions this campaign but Foden was seen limping off in the closing stages and was subsequently replaced by Julian Alvarez.

Foden addressed his injury concerns after the game. He said to TNT Sports:

“Just got a bad dead leg at the end, time to recover before next games so hopefully I can.”

“For the fans, it must’ve been one of the best games they could’ve watched. Two great teams with the best attackers in the world. What the fans want to see and plenty of goals.”

Now Phil Foden faces a race against time to be fit for Saturday’s home clash against Luton Town in the Premier League.

Who can be the potential FPL replacements for Phil Foden?

Phil Foden is enduring one of his best seasons in a Man City shirt contributing significantly with 14 goals and seven assists, supported by impressive xG and xA statistics. He could be an impressive choice for captain this weekend given his stellar form but Pep Guardiola would not risk him against a relegation-threatened Luton Town.

There are five players who can replace Phil Foden in FPL Gameweek 33. Arsenal’s Kai Havertz (£7.3m) is a player who has earned more FPL points in the last few weeks than any other player. The German international has bagged five goals and five assists in his last seven league matches and could be an interesting choice for the FPL managers.

Then we have two South American Liverpool stars, Luis Diaz (£7.6m) and Alexis Mac Allister (£7.6m). The former has registered five goals and four assists in his previous 10 matches. Daiz has started every game for the Reds this calendar year, regularly completing 90 minutes. Mac Allister was outstanding in Liverpool’s 2-1 win against Brighton but blanked out against Manchester United.

Tottenham Hotspur winger Brennan Johnson (£5.8m)  could be an interesting choice who could work a short-term punt. He has managed two goals and four assists in his last six appearances for the North London club. Lastly, we have Brentford midfielder Bryan Mbeumo (£6.7m) who has played in the final third for Thomas Frank’s side this campaign.
