Rayo Vallecano vs Real Betis Match Preview

Rayo Vallecano vs Real Betis will take place at the Estadio de Vallecas in LaLiga on March 17 in one of the last fixtures of matchday 29.

The hosts enter this contest on the back of a woeful run of form. They are winless in their last 10 games across competitions, having last picked up a win on January 6th against Huesca. Since then, they have lost seven and drawn three games as their free-fall continues. Rayo lost 1-0 to Alaves in their last game and will soon look to put a plug on their awful results. They were looking for a positive result in the next one.

The visitors, on the other hand, are not much better off, unfortunately. With just one win in their last six games across competitions, Betis also have faltered of late. With three defeats and two draws being the other results, they were knocked out of the Europa Conference League after a 2-1 aggregate loss to Dinamo Zagreb. Their last outing was a thrilling 3-2 defeat at the hands of Villarreal in a game that saw three lead changes.

Having said that, let’s take a look at the team news coming out of both camps.

Team News

Manager Inigo Perez will have no injuries to worry about ahead of his team’s next game. He has been using a limited set of players in rotation over the last few weeks and all of them have done well to stay match-fit.

However, three players face the risk of being suspended for accumulation of yellow cards. Raul de Tomas, Ivan Balliu and Florian Lejeune have all picked up four cards already and will be suspended for one match should they pick up another.

Real Betis

Manager Manuel Pellegrini will have a slightly longer injury list to deal with ahead of the next game. Key midfielder Isco (torn muscle), Sergi Altimara (muscle) and Aitor Ruibal (ankle) have been out for a while and will miss the next game. Forward Chimy Avila picked up a red card for two bookable offences in the last game and will be suspended against Rayo.

Meanwhile, three players could be suspended if they pick up another yellow. Chimy Avila, Aitor Ruibal and Assane Diao are all on four yellows.
